Inspiration can come in many forms such as the following:
- A great story shared by another person.
- Visual conceptual ideas.
- Practical ideas where a solution is required.
The world of the internet is showcasing all three. Fashion is a great example of seeing some fashions that are completely over the top, never to really wear anywhere. Why do it then? It's about inspiration.
With me, ideas are the stepping stones from one idea to another. Today, I might be working on a brand new stitch and love it so much that I will force the stitch into another pattern just because I love it. It's the evolution of conceptual design.
While at Creativ Festival this fall, you will see Crochet-Arium. A large aquatic exhibit that is meant to inspire you. While some believe it's a waste of yarn, most people are captured in the fantasy world of make believe.
All creatures donated for Crochet-Arium will find it's way to a child through Crafting For A Cure. The fabulous thing about the sea is the the interesting shapes and colours of creatures. It's almost endless. Over the past week, I have been designing Kelp with a yarn bomb appeal. My imagination is on fire as I try to complete each stem to be unique to itself. I'm trying to crochet in as many crochet stitches as I know. It's an explosion of colour with using primarily scrap yarns. While kelp isn't something any of us really need, it's the stepping stone to colour exploration, stitch sampler and inspiration all wrapped up into one glorious exhibit. I'm beyond thrilled. The donations that have arrived in so far for the creatures have been exquisite.
