I learned of Todd Paschall through a friend, Veronica, who was working on an heirloom portrait of her parents at the dinner table at their wedding. The picture dated back to the 50's. She was crocheting a replica as an afghan and using a pattern created by Todd.
I was taken back by the detail. I watched her gladly go through the stitches. I was blown away by the detail of the pattern but how simple it was as well. I was floored at the 45 pages of the pattern stitches required, but as Veronica demonstrated to me, it's not as daunting as one might think. I was amazed how fast it was too!

Greetings!
In the quest for building a fabulous crochet website, last week I created a new section called " Stitches". This section is a video library of crochet stitches as demonstrated on my YouTube. You will find helpful tips, stitches and other resources that may help your crochet skills. Special thanks to Delia, a fan, for helping me behind the scenes to quickly process this new feature. Delia did all of the graphics you see. Thanks!  I still have a long way to go but I have put a substantial amount of articles together with matching video tutorials to show you how to do it. This is a new section you will find on the main home page. Look at the Choice Picture Wall and you will find Stitches. Look for more updates as the months go on.

Congratulations
Our Ocean Wave Afghan Challenge came to an official end last Wednesday. We randomly selected a lucky person to receive a gorgeous Red Heart Yarn Tote filled with yarn and more goodies. Congratulations Liz Simning of Minnesota. You are this month's lucky crocheter! We are all winners as we each finished off with a fabulous afghan to enjoy. I suspect many are being given away as gifts to others.
Congratulations to everyone as we had 476 completed afghans by the due date. If you missed our deadline, you can still crochet up one of these and submit us a photo for our gallery. We love to see your creativity!

Big Ball Blowout

Yes... it's back for a second year. Spinrite Factory Outlet in Listowel Ontario is holding their annual Big Ball Blowout Bananza. This just isn't any little yarn sale. This is a massive tent with jaw dropping low prices. There's a reason why they give you a garbage bag when you enter the tent.
This starts this Thursday, May 23rd!
There's a reason why they call it"Big Ball Blowout". Mostly everything is in jumbo to monster size yarn balls.
pssst... I am there on May 23, 24 and 25th from 10 am - 3 pm. Find me under the yarn tent!

Get Hook'd
Cathy's Hook Club New Project
Our next challenge has begun? Amazingly enough, we already have people that have finished it as well. It's the new Circular Motif Shawl by Red Heart. I was looking for something wearable yet light enough to work on during the warm weather. When it cools off in the evenings, the shawl makes for a fashion accessory but also practical.
PS. There was a pattern correction by Red Heart. This project only requires 5 Balls of Red Heart Boutique Treasure, not 8 as per the pattern. Red Heart is updating their website shortly.

Last week on Facebook, I asked for donations to help pay for some of the costs associated to keeping our community free and resourceful. There is a donation button on our website for people to use. No donation too small and there is no obligation to donate.
