Spring is officially here and April which begins our Summer schedule. Easter is Sunday, April 20th this year.
We've noticed that most yards are beginning to look a little dry and the time on your irrigation box should be increased accordingly. Proper irrigation is key to the success of a beautiful yard. Please take a moment to read our article about Healthy Green Lawn Care (below).
In our last issue we discussed spring-time flowers (Annuals vs. Perennials) and general landscaping. In this issue, we felt that it's also best to irrigation now that we're going in the the dry season for the next 2-3 months.
Please feel free to call us at (813) 435-3112 if you would like to add color landscape to your property or irrigation tune-up.
Please let us know if there is a special topic you would like to see.

Healthy Green Lawn Care
Watering Tips & Restrictions
As we enter in to another dry season, it is very important that you keep up with your watering requirements.
University of Florida scientists recently conducted a study to see what would happen if automated irrigation systems were monitored to work more in sync with nature. Homeowners whose irrigation timers were reset monthly slashed water use up to 30 percent compared with homes that just let the systems run on previous settings. That's enough to fill six swimming pools each year!
Generally, turf grasses require no more than an average 0f 0.3 inches of water per day. Under extreme summer conditions, water use can be as high as 0.4 inches of water per day. If rainfall occurs, irrigation should be suspended according to the rainfall amount for that day.
Rule of tumb - If you notice your grass blades or plants are wilting between watering days, increase the time in 10 minute intervals each week until the issue is resolved. If you notice a small section of turf wilting, you may need an irrigation tune-up to ensure that area is getting watered properly.
Effective March 1, 2014, we're back to 2 days per week watering. To see current Water Restrictions - (Hillsborough County and City of Tampa) visit: www.AllisonLawn.com/resources

Tech about It
End of Windows XP Support Means Added Opportunity for Hackers Microsoft is counting down to the end of an era. Next week on April 8, the company officially washes its hands of Windows XP, an operating system introduced in 2001 that comprises 45 million lines of code. You can watch the clock tick down in slightly eerie fashion, green boxes on a purple background, on Microsoft's website, which also gives some pithy advice on what this means: "It means you should take action."
Microsoft explains it quite clearly. "End of support refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides automatic fixes, updates, or online technical assistance," the site reads. "Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information." With all of the Virus/Spyware emails that I've recently receive, I have to wonder how many are from computers that still run Windows XP or computers that don't have proper Virus/Spyware Protection. Today. I received one of these emails from a customer of ours, which came with their entire contact list. Luckily, I email them before I clicked on the link and minimized any risks. Don't click on any links within email if you notice a large number of people in the Sent To box at the top of the email.
If you need help or advice with your computers, please contact Dennis Topo (Security Technologist / Business Consultant) at Dennis@dtopo.com. (813-293-7115)

If you think your boss is stupid - just remember; you wouldn't have a job if he was smarter.

I learned that we can do anything, but we can't do everything, at least not at the same time. So think of your priorities not in terms of what activities you do, but when you do them. Timing is everything.
