Laacke & Joys Moving Manufacturing Division to Brookfield

Laacke & Joys Company LLC, is moving its LJ Design & Manufacturing division to a 50,560 sq. ft. building at 3205 N.124th Street in the City of Brookfield. The growth of the manufacturing division made it necessary to find a larger, more modern facility.  "We are very pleased to have a company with such a rich history, strong name and reputation choose this location in the City of Brookfield", said Mayor Steven V. Ponto, "LJ Design & Manufacturing moving to our 124th St. Commerce District reinforces the momentum we have seen and the investments the City is planning in that area."

LJ Design & Manufacturing will move to the former VerHalen/Pella Window Building at 3205 N. 124th Street

LJ Design & Manufacturing produces quality sewn products for OEMs, industrial and medical applications, municipalities, schools, universities, construction and military markets.  In 2012 they acquired the assets of Concept Seating and have since been manufacturing and marketing a line of intensive use, 24/7, dispatch chairs.

The new location will help maximize efficiencies, simplify operations, and allow for future growth.  LJ Design & Manufacturing will have space to add new capabilities to better serve their customers, and expects to be in the new building by June.  Forty-four employees will be transferred to the new facility.  The building was previously occupied by VerHalen/Pella Windows.  The City is working with the owners of VerHalen on location options in the City.

In February of this year, Laacke & Joys consolidated their retail operations at their flagship store located at 19233 W Bluemound Road.

Brookfield Square adding, expanding Tenants. Planning Phase I expansion near Sear's

Brookfield Square's Phase I Expansion will add new Storefronts and Streetscape on the east side of Sear's facing Moorland Rd.

CBL Properties, the owner of Brookfield Square, has submitted plans to the City for a 20,000 square foot expansion, with new "Street Scape" on the east side of the mall, utilizing some of the Sear's space, combined with new construction.  The new tenant spaces facing Moorland Road will complement the previous additions of Cooper's Hawk, Bravo Cucina, North Face, The Limited, Barnes & Noble, Red Robin and Mitchell's Fish Market to the Moorland side of the mall.

The 20,000 square feet of additional space will accommodate as many as six new tenants.  The Phase I expansion is planned to open in the early Spring of 2015.  A Phase II expansion includes approximately 50,000 square feet of additional retail to be built out from the east and north facades of Boston Store.  Phase II would include a three level parking ramp, west of Boston Store and connected by skywalk at the second level.
