GCIR to Hold Annual Meeting in Texas
May 3 - 5, 2016

For the first time, Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) will hold its annual meeting in the Southwest -- in Austin, Texas!

Philanthropy Southwest Member and GCIR Board Member Amanda Cloud describes her commitment to GCIR: GCIR has been an invaluable resource in connecting us to other funders, providing education around the issues of immigrants and refugees and helping to spread the message that we are all immigration funders.

Eusebio Diaz, Philanthropy Southwest Board Member says:
Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio is concerned with meeting the health needs of the most vulnerable in our communities, regardless of their place of origin. As many of our partner grantees continue to work with vulnerable populations, GCIR is invaluable to foundations like ours to better understand the needs of immigrants and refugees.

Evaluation: Using Stories, Numbers and Relationships
To Learn How You are Making a Difference

Members from three states representing foundations of all sizes attended the Evaluation program on Febrary 29 with Jeff Glebocki, CEO of Strategy + Action Consulting. Jeff provided a framework which highlighted that the
most useful and informative evaluation combines "the numbers" and "the stories." The group did a planning exercise, and Jeff provided resources for attendees to use after the program.  Everyone enjoyed the networking opportunity. One attendee commented, "The program was well worth my time. Thanks for bringing Jeff to Texas!"
