2015 Annual Conference
Check out the new opportunities this year

Join the fun by engaging in these activities at the Annual Conference:
  • The Doctor is In:  Opportunity to speak one on one (or in a small group) with an individual speaker for 30 minutes. Sign up at the registration desk.
  • Connecting with others -- by granting focus:  Attendees will self-select from 5 granting areas by placing a colored sticker on their name tag. This will allow Conference participants to more easily identify with others having similar granting interests.
  • Twitter Contest: We will have a "Twitter Picture Contest" involving attendees taking pictures with various people and things. For example: picture with a speaker, picture with a new person you met at the Annual Conference, picture of a bell tower, etc. There will be prizes!
Please see us at the registration desk for details and sign-ups!

The current schedule of events, as well as speaker and travel information, is available in the Annual Conference section of our website, which is continuously updated with the latest conference details. We look forward to seeing you in New Mexico!

The hotel block at the Eldorado is full. Contact our offices if you need a room and would like to be added to the waiting list. If you have a reservation which you will not need, please contact our staff before cancelling.

Good Governance
The Inside Track on Succession Planning

Just as family businesses need to plan for succession, so do family foundations. This presentation will explore the options for continuing, dividing or terminating a family foundation. There will be a particular focus on the federal income tax rules that must be followed to avoid significant penalties, starting with a primer on the six foundation excise taxes and the various ways to restructure to avoid taxes. Following, a case study approach will be used to address succession. Register now.

When: Monday, November 9, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Presenters: Mike Bourland, Founding Shareholder, Wall, and Wenzel, P.C.; Ramsay Slugg, Managing Director, US Trust

Lemonade Day
May 1, 2016, Houston, TX

In May of 2010, Philanthropy Southwest, Philanthropy Roundtable and the Holt- house Family Foundaton co-sponsored a program in Houston. Lemonade Day was still in its infancy, having just been founded three years prior, but had quickly taken hold in cities across the United States. Its biggest growth was still to come.

Created by tech entrepreneur Michael Holthouse, Lemonade Day teaches kids about business by helping them start one. The idea occurred to Mr. Holthouse when his own child started a lemonade stand. After an afternoon of hard work, the returns were less than stellar. Though he had already experienced success in business, he realized that entrepreneurs are not born, they are made.
