"Perfect for Mom"

 26 piece Spring puzzle

"This 26-piece puzzle is beautiful, great quality, and is exactly the right level of difficulty for my 93-year old mother with advanced Alzheimer's to successfully put together totally on her own. It gives her a sense of pride and accomplishment which is missing now from most of her daily activities."

Greetings!

Honoring Mother's - Just in Different Ways

Mother's Day is fast approaching.  Awhile back, I received this comment from a caregiver about her mother with dementia:

"My mom does not sleep at night, as she wakes up to ask questions about where she is. This is emotional; very painful. Sometimes I want my mom just to sit there and talk about my problems and for her to give me advice."

Her feelings are likely shared by most caregivers.  But although this caregiver missed the 'mom' she used to know, this was not the end of her story.

From the Horse's Mouth

The ideal way to learn something new is to learn it directly from the expert.  People with early stage memory loss, who remain articulate and insightful, are experts in what it is like to go through a day with dementia.

Learning directly from these folks about the challenges and perceptions they face, can give us an invaluable inside view.  This video, To Whom I May Concern, features people with early stage memory loss presenting their stories in an interactive, theater-style model.

How will you spend your Mother's Day?  We would love to hear or see about special or fun moments with mothers, despite the memory loss.  Send your message or pictures to  info@mind-start.com.
