Dear Marina Tenant,

Summer is in full swing and we hope you have had plenty of chances to enjoy your boat and the marina. Hopefully everyone is safe and you didn't have too many hatches open for Mother Nature to visit with that spectacular rain and lightning show this past weekend.

The new Cohn restaurant at our southern end is coming along and they plan to have the grand opening in August. See the article below for additional details.

If you have any questions about the marina or suggestions on how we can improve your experience, please call us at (619) 574-0736 or come by the marina office.

Sincerely,

Jim Behun and the Sunroad Resort Marina Staff

Cohn Plans Mid-August Opening for New Harbor Island Restaurant

Cohn Restaurant Group of San Diego has a mid-August opening planned for Coasterra, its new waterfront restaurant at Harbor Island.

Company officials said the restaurant, built at a cost of more than $10 million, will have panoramic views of the city skyline and serve "modern Mexican" cuisine. The menu is being developed by Partner/Chef Deborah Scott and newly named Executive Chef John Gray, whose career includes work at The Ritz-Carlton Resort in Cancun, Mexico.

The 28,000-square-foot venue, at 880 Harbor Drive, will include a lounge and event space, with an airy banquet room that can seat more than 300. It will also soon feature an outdoor floating event deck that accommodates 500 people.

TransPac Record Shattered: Los Angeles To Hawaii In Less Than Four Days

A new course record was set this morning for the TransPacific crossing from Los Angeles to Diamond Head.

Congratulations to the Maxi trimaran Lending Club 2's skippers Renaud Laplanche and Ryan Breymaier, along with crew of Skip McCormack, Navigator Boris Herrmann, Jan Majer, Jean Baptiste Le Vaillant, Roland Jourdain, Stan Delbarre, and Quin Bisset.

Their 90-hour Voyage has them sailing more than 2,200 miles, giving them an average speed of more than 25 knots all the way to Hawaii.

The unofficial new record they've set is three days, 18 hours and 9 seconds. They finished at 16:44 UTC.

That breaks the previous record, set by Qlivier de Kersauson on board Geronimo, which finished in four days, 19 hours, 31 minutes and 37 seconds.

Bluefin tuna regulation changes expected any day

On April 8th the California Fish and Game Commission adopted changes concerning fishing for Pacific bluefin tuna in California waters. Those changes included the reduction in daily bag limit from 10 to 2 per angler, and new requirements for filleting tuna while on vessels south of Point Conception, which is in Santa Barbara County.

The changes are in line with a proposed federal rule by NOAA Fisheries which would have had the same effect in California anyways, that is expected to be finalized and published congruently with the state's changes.

We have been told to expect these changes to become effective in July of this year, so literally any day now.
