Flu Vaccine Awareness Campaign
Tools for Your Practice
 With fall just around the corner, IAFP wants to remind you about our Flu Vaccine Awareness Campaign. Thanks to a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), you and your colleagues have a great tool to help educate your most at-risk patients about the critical importance of an annual flu vaccine.
First, educate yourself with the Practice Guide: Influenza Vaccination for Primary Care. This CME program is worth 0.5 Prescribed Credits and covers CDC recommendations, types of vaccines available, anti-viral treatment, special consideration for chronic illnesses, and vaccination of health care personnel.
Second, get the tools for your practice. An Influenza Vaccine for Individuals with Diabetes Brochure, Influenza Vaccine for Individuals with Asthma Brochure, and Flu Vaccine Poster are all available for you to use in your practice. Fill out the online form to order materials for your practice.
Finally, IAFP has produced a 5-minute patient education video focusing on the importance of an annual flu vaccine for patients with asthma and/or diabetes. Visit the IAFP YouTube Channel to access this video for use in your waiting room, practice website, or social media channels.

Ten Steps Forward - Building Momentum on the Baby-Friendly Pathway in Illinois

Thanks to funding from the Illinois Department of Public Health's We Choose Health Initiative, registration for this conference is only $10 which is a fee to cover lunch and refreshments. A $100 education stipend is available to a limited number of participants on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register quickly if you are interested in receiving a stipend. Please see the registration form for more information about eligibility for the stipend, a conference agenda and speaker information. At this time, we are asking organizations to limit registration to two representatives per organization.
Almost half of Illinois' maternity hospitals are in the Baby-Friendly pathway. 2014 ICAAP Annual Education Conference

Registration is now open for the 2014 ICAAP Annual Educational Conference, scheduled for September 19-20 at the Hyatt Lisle in Lisle, IL. The 2014 agenda includes keynote sessions such as Dr. Bradley Stolbach discussing his work in treating children and families who have experienced trauma and Dr. Niranjan Karnik discussing mental health in the general pediatric practice. Other topics for breakout sessions include sleep disorders, perinatal depression, newborn screening update, management of type 2 diabetes, and more.
