IAFP Safe Prescriber Program
IAFP is pleased to announce the new, three level Safe Prescriber Program. To achieve Level One Safe Prescriber status, physicians must enroll in the Illinois Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) and then complete the online request form. Upon completion, Safe Prescribers will receive a certificate to display at their practice and online recognition.
Physicians achieve Level Two status when they successfully complete the newly updated Pain Management CME course on the IAFP education website, develop an office policy on for controlled substances, and utilize a patient contract. The Level Two request form may also be found online. Physicians who complete this step will receive a Safe Prescriber Lapel Pin and be recognized at the IAFP Annual Awards dinner.
Level Three Safe Prescriber status will be formally announced later this year, and will involve a QI project for your practice that can be used toward your Maintenance of Certification (MC-FP). Upon completion of Step three, physicians will receive a press release for their local paper and a recognition reception at their practice (both upon request only). Keep an eye on upcoming CME Connections and other IAFP communications for the official announcement in the coming months.
