February 2016

Jeff Rector, HOA President
I'm sure you have a "Vision" for your bucket list, your career, your retirement, your friends and family. How about your neighborhood (most likely one of your largest investments)?

For some, the focus is based on day-to-day concerns such as a neighbor's broken window, whether or not dues increase by $20 one year, and that annoying car parked in the street.

For others, they have a passion, a picture in mind, and a willingness to act on what the future could be....A beautiful common area that is the envy of surrounding neighborhoods, spectacular entrances in both summer and during the holidays, consistent and unbiased enforcement, enhanced security and communications, beautiful new Golf and Fitness Facilities that border the neighborhood for all to enjoy, a renovated shopping center that upholds the social capital and respect to its neighboring patrons that spend so much of their money at its businesses and bear the same Heritage Greens name. They focus here first, despite property lines, obstacles, distractors, and naysayers, knowing the longer-term benefits to all.

Both the day-to-day and future items are important in their own right and require attention from various residents and volunteers to maintain such a spectacular community. Yet prioritization and focus must start with the Vision, not the other way around, which is reflected in our reputation and record property values. If you share this passion and perspective about the "Vision" with myself and those before me, I'd ask that you get involved and run as my replacement when I step down in December of this year after 4 years of service.

"Vision without action is daydream. Action without vision is nightmare."
-Japanese Proverb

Community Room Rental

The Community Room is a great space for graduation parties. As in the past, we will conduct a lottery for use of the room over the busy weekend of May 19-22.

If you are interested in hosting a party, please submit your name, email, and first and second
choices of date and time to Shari Lamb at hgcommunityroom@gmail.com
by March 1. If necessary, names will be drawn on March 2 for any times that are in conflict, and you will be
contacted then.
Please note that the current clubhouse rental fee is $200 plus the security deposit of $300.

HG Tennis Survey: We Need Your Input

Recently, Heritage Greens created a tennis committee whose purpose is to continue to build tennis programs that meet the needs and interests of our diverse community.  We recognize that there are many new residents to Heritage Greens who may be interested in tennis, but don't know how to start.  Or, there are long-term residents who have a renewed interest or a changing need for the sport.  For instance, we are considering ideas for youth tennis, men's leagues, and broader tennis socials.

We invite you to participate in a short survey to provide direction to the Heritage Greens Tennis Committee to ensure we create tennis programs that meet the broadest needs of our community as possible. If you are interested in any aspect of Heritage Greens Tennis, please click here to complete the survey by Tuesday, March 1st. As with all HG communications, we ask that one survey be completed per household.

Thank you for taking time to let us know about your interests in Heritage Greens Tennis.  If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Sheryle Gaston at HeritageGreensTennis@gmail.com

Help Welcome Our New Neighbors
All residents are invited to come meet our newest neighbors on Saturday, February 27th from 10:00 am to noon at the Clubhouse. This is an informal gathering put on by the Welcome Committee with coffee and bagels where both new and existing residents and their families are invited to get to know one another. Please email us atheritagegreenswelcome@gmail.com to let us know you're coming. We hope to see you there!
Moms, Pops, and Tots
We are working on our schedule of events for 2017 and should have the details out to you next month. For now, please join us for our first Preschool Play date of 2016, which will be held at Margie Bradley's house on Thursday, February 18th from 9:30-11:00. Please watch your email for further details!  Next up is another preschool playdate on Tuesday March 1st from 9:30-11:00 hosted at the home of Sarah Browning. We hope to host one of these events monthly, so if you are interested in hosting anytime in 2016 please let us know! Our preschool play dates aim to bring together our youngest residents to play and allow caregivers some time to chat. They are a great way to get to know your neighbors in a small group setting. Hosting usually entails offering a simple snack for the kids and providing some toys to play with!

The Easter Bunny is coming to Heritage Greens! Join your neighbors to celebrate Easter and the arrival of spring with an egg hunt and party on Saturday, March 26th from 2-4 pm on the lawn at the Heritage Greens Pool and Clubhouse.

If you are new the neighborhood and would like to be included in Moms, Pops & Tots, please send us an email. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Swim Team
Planning for the 2016 Gator Swim Team is well under way. We have been reaching out to Gator Parents looking for Committee Heads and Volunteers. If you are interested and we have not talked to you, please feel free to contact us....we need all the help we can get!

For the new families in our neighborhood we would like to extend a special Gator Welcome and invite anyone interested in joining the swim team to contact us or visit our team website. The website contains the 2016 meet and practice schedule.  Registration will be opening online April 1. There will be additional details and instructions in the March Newsletter and on the team website.

Our Gator coaching staff is in place and we will have coach bios up on the team website shortly.  We are anxious for you to get to know our dedicated, amazing coaches.

Our Gator Pre-Team has enjoyed great success with our young swimmers and their families and we will be offering it again this year. The pre-team allows an opportunity for kids who are not quite ready for swim competition to develop their swimming skills and participate in the fun of the neighborhood swim team. The goal of the program is to prepare kids to move up to the competition team within the season if they are ready or the following season. The pre-team swimmers will enjoy all of the fun of being a Gator, but will participate in customized practices and will not be expected to compete in meets. More information on the pre-team can be found here (https://hggators.swimtopia.com/gator-pre-team).

We know many of you are already planning your summer activities. The Gator season runs May 16th - July 9th and excludes 4th of July. Please see our website (https://hggators.swimtopia.com) for more specific information. After school swim practice will begin May 16th. Morning practices will begin Monday May 23. We will offer afternoon practices for those swimmers that are not in Littleton Public Schools.

For more information or questions please contact us.

Recycling

Thanks to all of you that took the time and effort to recycle your Christmas tree. Those recycled trees provide excellent ground cover and you freed up dump space.

Reuse:  How can I get rid of something in my house, make a little money(maybe) and feel safer doing it?

Well the answer is right on your computer.  It is a website called Nextdoor.com.  What is great about this is that you can only offer your goods to the neighbors in HG or you can choose the surrounding neighborhoods.  It just feels safer having only people close by to interact with.  You can even make your exchanges at a local site.
You sign up and then put your items up for sale or free.  This site also provides information about events from South Suburban, local crime alerts and recommendations for businesses and services.

Some people have been asking for a spring neighborhood garage sale.  We will be sticking with the Fall sponsored garage sale, but we are suggesting that you look at the weekend of May 13th.  It reduces traffic throughout the summer months and concentrates it on one weekend.  You can advertise via Nextdoor.com.  If you really want to do that garage sale early, this weekend is before graduation, swim meets and holidays.  Just a suggestion!
