March 2015

Looks like spring is in the air and checks are being mailed off to Uncle Sam. A bit of a bittersweet season (unless you were lucky enough for a refund). The famed American Humorist Poet, Ogden Nash said it well:

Indoors or out, no one relaxes

In March, that month of wind and taxes.

The wind will presently disappear;

The taxes last us all the year.

Separate from taxes, and unlike the government, I am pleased to announce that Heritage Green actually does have a 2015 strategic plan in place. It is posted on the website for all those interested (or with sleeping disorders). We are focused as a volunteer team on four over-riding themes in all that we do this year:

  • Infrastructure Enhancements
  • Further Strengthening our Cash Reserves
  • Expanding the Sense of Community
  • Efficient Compliance and Enforcement

The plan outlines details on each of these areas and the volunteers who are driving them. Of course, it is a living document and will be updated throughout the year as more details are confirmed.

We're just 8 weeks from pool season and the sun has broken through. Have a great March and safe travels to all those headed off on a Griswold spring break adventure!

Sustainability
HG Recycle If your house gutters and street gutters are full of pine needles, it's time to scoop them out to ensure the proper flow of water.  Please put them directly in your trash bin, as they will break down at the landfill.

All types of batteries and light bulbs can be recycled at Batteries Plus.  Batteries Plus is located very close to Heritage Greens at 8202 S. University Blvd. They will recycle batteries responsibly, whereas if disposed in a landfill, batteries leak and pollute.

The sustainability committee is finally meeting and we are gathering ideas for the year.  We are looking for ways to inform our neighbors on recycling opportunities, reuse possibilities, and re-purposing ideas.  If you would like to be involved, please contact Teri Hendrix.

Heritage Greens Safety

The HOA Board wants to thank Rick Johnson for his support of Heritage Greens in the capacity of being our SAFETY representative. He's been in that position for over seven years and has been a true asset to the neighborhood. He's moving on from this position and will be missed. THANK YOU RICK for your service!

We are looking for someone to volunteer to fill this position and if you could bring value or energy to this appointed board position, we would really like to hear from you.

 Covenant Corner
TRASH CANS...........yep, they should be incognito.

adjective: having one's identity concealed, as under an assumed name, especially to avoid notice or formal attentions.

Per our covenants and the Rules and Regulations of Heritage Greens 2015, "Trash & Recycling Containers must be stored out of sight from the street".  That means if your neighbors can see where you store your trash/recycling cans, you are in violation of these rules. Please step up and correct this situation as we are all in this together, we want to make this a GREAT neighborhood to reside in! First impressions are lasting impressions...

Rules & Regulations of Heritage Greens 2015 can be found here on the website.

Heritage Greens Gators

Hard to believe but summer is on the way!  Planning is well under way and the Gator Swim Season is going to be filled with sportsmanship, splashes and lots of laughs!

NEW RESIDENTS:

Are you interested in your children getting involved in a great Heritage Greens neighborhood tradition? Come join the Gators! Your kids will enjoy a great summer activity that runs mid May through mid July. The kids will get into great shape with daily outdoor exercise, join their friends and make new ones during practices, swim meets and plenty of social activities. Check out the Heritage Greens Gators web site or contact the team's parent representatives for more information.

REGISTRATION:

Registration for the 2015 summer swim season will begin in April.  We are currently updating all the registration information.  We will send out a link when registration begins.

GATOR PRE-TEAM:

The Gator Pre-team has been a huge success and we look forward to bringing it back this year. We often have people ask, "How do I decide if the pre-team or the swim team is the right fit for my child?" Both our competitive team and Pre-team are intended for kids that have had some swimming lessons and are comfortable in the water and working with other people besides their parents. The Gator Pre-team provides an opportunity for kids ages 4-6 who are not quite ready for swim competition to develop their swimming skills and participate in the fun of the neighborhood swim team. The goal of the program is to prepare kids to move up to the competition team by the following season or when they are ready. The Pre-team swimmers will enjoy all of the fun of being a Gator, but will participate in customized practices and not be expected to compete in meets. If you have questions or ideas, please contact Nancy or Kristen.

GATOR GEAR:

Swimsuits and other gear will be available on Tuesday, April 7 and Wednesday, April 8 at our Heritage Greens Community Clubhouse from 4-7 p.m. The swimsuits are new this year and look very fierce. We'll be offering some new merchandise as well as some of the favorites from last season. Most of these items can be customized with your child's name or initials. If you are unable to attend one of these evenings, please contact Shelley Thompson at bobandshelley@comcast.net for ordering information.
