February 2015

We know that folks are excited to visit Heritage Greens, but one overly elated visitor at the Colorado Blvd entrance forgot to slow down and turn the wheel before plowing right through the Community brick wall and concrete planters last weekend! They were even kind enough to leave us souvenirs from their front bumper and grill. I am sure no libations were involved... You'll see more details as we work to get it repaired.

A special thanks to the 500 homeowners that completed our neighborhood survey. Did you know?

  • Only 46% of residents have school-aged children
  • 23% of homeowners are retired
  • 42% have lived here over 16 years!
  • 98% are proud to live here and would recommend to others

Want to see more results? Click here to access the full PDF. Were looking forward to ensuring the alignment of our efforts with your feedback.

Enjoy the early springtime weather, but don't forget that Speeding was the number one safety concern!

Notes from the Heritage Greens Board

COVENANTS.........
We are a covenant community.  These bring value to all HG homeowners.  Covenants are posted on the HG website.

There are two sections for our covenants.  Both are located under HOA DOCUMENTS
(1) Covenants, Bylaws & Ammendments
(2)Rules and Regulations12/30/14

Again, these are for the benefit of all Heritage Greens homeowners.  We are a premier south suburban neighborhood and our goal is to keep this distinction for all of us!

TRASH TALKING.........

The Heritage Greens Association annual assessment dues of $420 were due January 1, 2015. Payments received after January 30, 2015 are considered late and may be assessed late fees and interest.

Just to give you an example of where some of these dollars go, look to your trash can. A few years ago all homeowners had to arrange their own trash collections. As a result we had garbage trucks in the neighborhood multiple days a week. A local trash company told us that the individual homeowner rate today is $19.50 for trash, $11.63 for Re-Cycle or $31.13 per month. Our rate is currently $14.29!

The HG Board instituted a single trash day, with one contracted company and picked up this service charge, paying for it out of our HOA yearly dues. Of the current $420 dues, $171.48 goes to our trash collection fee for each of our 578 homes! That's about 41% of the current individual dues. Another side benefit the homeowners derive is that Waste Management provides each home with not one, but at least two trash cans, one for recycling and another for, you got it.....TRASH.

Please check the schedule for Trash and Recycle Pick-up.

We'd love to see you at our monthly homeowners meetings, they're the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 PM at our beautiful Heritage Greens clubhouse. Come and see what's new and hanging on a wall....

Covenant Corner
This is a repeat article from the  June 2014 HG Newsletter. We wanted to advise all homeowners that a letter will be going out this month to homeowners, and there's only a few, who are not compliant with this covenant. In the letter we will ask that the homeowner seek a remedy to this specific situation by May 1, 2015.

*************************

Heritage Greens is a Covenant Community and it maintains an Architectural Control Committee (ACC) which regulates the external design, appearance and location of improvements and alterations to properties.

In an effort to be more visible and responsive to the homeowners, we will be giving updates monthly in the HG Newsletter highlighting our covenants.

An example of this is, per our Covenant Bylaws and Amendments, page 7 section L, "Each resident shall maintain at least one electric post light between the house and the street, which said light shall be operated by a photo-electric cell or other automatic device so that it will be lighted automatically during hours of darkness."

Recently, it was brought to the ACC's attention, that there are several homes in the neighborhood where this light was no longer functioning or non-existent. We request, that if this applies to your home, that this be corrected. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation. Let's all work to keep Heritage Greens a great place to live!

Heritage Greens Website and Newsletter

Heritage Greens is a strong community because our residents are invested and connected.   Below are some tips on staying engaged in the neighborhood:

1.  Make sure you are able to log in to the neighborhood website at www.heritagegreens.orgUnlike alternative sites such as nextdoor.com, the HG Newsletter and HG website are the OFFICIAL publications of Heritage Greens. They are inclusive of all HG Residents and will protect your privacy.  The newsletter is a communication written by HG residents, for HG residents.  If you would like to contribute to the newsletter, please submit articles to HGNewsWeb@gmail.com by the 1st of the month. The HG website has important neighborhood information from the message board to tennis court and clubhouse reservations to covenants.  If you need a refresher on accessing the resident-only portions of the HG website, instructions are included at the bottom of this newsletter.

2.  Subscribe to the Heritage Greens Message Board where you can find interesting posts from your neighbors including advice on vendors to lost pets and recreational equipment.  You can subscribe here

3.  Encourage your children to advertise their services. Want to earn some money shoveling a neighbor's walk?  Interested in babysitting or being a summer nanny?  Be sure to add your information to the Teen Services or Find a Sitter section of the website.

Heritage Greens Gators Swim Team

Planning for the 2015 Gator Swim Team is well under way. We have been reaching out to Gator Parents looking for Committee Heads and Volunteers. If you are interested and we have not talked to you, please feel free to contact us....we need all the help we can get!

For the new families in our neighborhood we would like to extend a special Gator Welcome and invite anyone interested in joining the swim team to contact us or visit our team website https://hggators.swimtopia.com/. The website currently contains the 2014 schedule...we are working to update it very soon.  Registration will be opening online April 1. There will be details and instructions in the March Newsletter and on the team website.

Our Gator coaching staff is starting to come together. We are excited for the season and are thrilled with the applicants and the interviews. Watch for more information about the coaching staff in the coming months, we can not wait for you to get to know them, some of who will be very familiar.

Our Gator Pre-Team has been a great success with our young swimmers and their families and we will be offering it again this year. The pre-team allows an opportunity for kids who are not quite ready for swim competition to develop their swimming skills and participate in the fun of the neighborhood swim team. The goal of the program is to prepare kids to move up to the competition team within the season if they are ready or the following season. The pre-team swimmers will enjoy all of the fun of being a Gator, but will participate in customized practices and will not be expected to compete in meets. More information on the pre-team can be found here .

We know many of you are already planning your summer activities. After school swim practice will begin May 18th. Morning practices will begin Tuesday May 26. We will offer afternoon practices for those swimmers that are not in Littleton Public Schools.  Practice times will remain the same as last year.

The Gator season runs May 18th - July 11th and excludes 4th of July weekend. We have a couple of social events and activities that have not been finalized, but we will update you on those events once we have them confirmed.

The Architectural Control Committee Needs Volunteers

Hear that phone ringing..........that's a call for....VOLUNTEERS....

The ACC (Architectural Control Committee) could use some help.
This is an important function as this group assures that Heritage Greens will
continue to be a premier South Suburban neighborhood/community.

Scoop the Poop

All dog owners have felt the temptation to "let it lie".  Perhaps you're tired or the Colorado weather has suddenly turned and you want to get home quickly.  Whatever the reason, please resist the temptation to leave the mess in your neighbor's yard.

HG makes it easy!  Plastic "doggie bags"  are located all around the neighborhood.  They are located at the entrances, by the Pool/Community Room, even by Linksview Park.  Please do you part!

Moms, Pops & Tots

children-playing.jpg Moms, Pops and Tots are excited to get 2015 off to a great start with the re-introduction of play dates for our youngest residents. These play dates have always been a great opportunity for the littlest kiddos in the neighborhood to have a chance to meet and bond, and for moms, dads, and nannies to get to know one another in a small group.  We will be scheduling these play dates monthly (and more frequently, if there is interest!). Our first "3 and under" play date is tentatively scheduled for February 23rd from 10-12 at the home of Margie Bradley. Please send us an email if you are interested in attending and/or hosting one of these get-togethers. Watch your email for an Evite to our first play date.

Our next big event is our Easter celebration. Join us Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 2-4 pm at the Heritage Greens Clubhouse. There will be an egg hunt, games and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Plan to bring your family and come celebrate with your neighbors.

If you are new the neighborhood and would like to be included in Moms, Pops & Tots, please send us an email. We look forward to seeing you soon.
