October 2013
President's Pen

Greetings!

Isn't it nice to know that while our elected leaders are unable to deliver a budget this month, your Heritage Greens HOA finances remain in excellent standing with healthy cash reserves! Perhaps we should send our Treasurer (Wade Wilson) out to provide consulting to the folks in Washington.

Speaking of elected leaders, now is the time to act on that guilt if you have not yet volunteered to give back to this great neighborhood. We have a few positions opening up for 2014 and need your passion to maintain a strong HOA. Please send me an email this month if you can spare a small amount of time. It's a rewarding experience and a terrific way to truly be a part of your community.

The Architectural Control Committee is also finalizing a 2014 approved roofing materials list that we will vote on at the November meeting. This will provide homeowners with a great selection of proven materials and colors while maintaining the intended character and consistency of the roofs in the area. Input has been received from homeowners and contractors. As a result, we will eliminate the need for variance requests next year and revisit the list annually.

Please stay vigilant on reporting speeding in our neighborhood with the City of Centennial. Our streets are public but you can email or call law enforcement with concerns and license numbers if you see someone speeding or endangering our kids and other residents with reckless driving. You can also send an email to our Safety Officer (Rick Johnson) to help.

Lastly, hopefully you've noticed the extensive tree trimming on the common areas and Holly. We also need your help in maintain the trees on your property to be away from fence lines and sidewalks. The landscaping team is already planning an extensive update to the WOW factor of the neighborhood entrances to begin next spring.

Bring on the trick or treaters!

Jeff Rector, HOA President, HGPres@gmail.com, 303-570-8291

Heritage Greens Community Room

Did you know you can rent the Community Room for your next event?

Renting the room is a great perk for Heritage Greens Residents and has been used for events such as birthdays, team dinners, wine tastings and memorial receptions. Renting is easy and can be done online though our website.  For a $100 rental fee you can use the room, kitchen and restrooms for your next social or business event up to 65 people.

$50 Rental Fee for Up to 25 People
We want to encourage use of this great resource!  For the next three months, we will be trialing the rental of the facility for $50. This will be for groups of 25 or less.  You are responsible to leave the room in a clean condition, ready for the next rental. This includes taking out the trash, wiping down counters, vacuuming and spot cleaning bathrooms as necessary. You are also still responsible for any damages to the facility. Guest counts will be done during this trial period. Think of the ease of Hosting at Community Room instead of your home...no toys to clean up or floors to mop!

For more information, see the website (rentals must be submitted online) or contact Heather Kelly via email or cell phone 720-979-9921.

Recycle, Reduce, Reuse

The RE is already in Heritage GREens.  The day before trash pick-up you may place on your driveway with a "FREE" sign any item that you were planning to put in the trash the next day, but possibly someone else could use.  Please feel free to "take" these items from your neighbors in the true spirit of RE-ing.  "One man's junk is another man's treasure!"  Let's reuse, recycle, re - this items instead of putting them in the trash.
This is only advertised to the residents of the neighborhood.  We do not want to encourage drive-bys and increased traffic.

Just remember that the day before trash pick-up is RE-day.  You never know, you may find just what you need!

Lois Lenski Elementary Awarded 2013 National Blue Ribbon

Our district elementary school, Lois Lenski Elementary, has been selected as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence as designated by the U.S. Department of Education.  This is the second time Lenski has been awarded this honor, which puts this school amongst a very elite group of schools.  The Blue Ribbon award acknowledges and validates the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in striving for - and attaining - exemplary achievement.  Lenski was selected for this award based on a comprehensive review of our achievements over the past five years. Only five schools received the award in Colorado, and Lenski is the only school within Littleton Public Schools.
Ding Dong!

Ding, dong! Did you hear that?

It's us! Some kids you know from Lenski Elementary at your front door. Behind our cute smiles is a request. Will you support our school?

No, we aren't selling anything. No magazines, wrapping paper, chocolate or popcorn. Instead your entire donation will go directly to fund the salaries of the specialist teachers we have at Lenski.

These teachers help us in small groups in reading, computers and math. Small groups ensure each of us gets individualized attention and can learn at our own pace.

You can donate online with your credit card or write a check and we'll take it to school. Your donation is tax-deductible. A receipt with tax information will be emailed to you.

Any amount is appreciated. $15, $30, even $100. If we were selling something, think about how much you would spend. Our goal is to raise $80,000. The parents of Lenski have already raised over $50,000. Please help!

Thank you for supporting our school!

Love,
The Lenski Kids You Know
