It's nice to finally see some rain and cooler temperatures to kick off July! The grass was getting a bit brown in both our common areas and many of the yards given water restrictions. Denver Water has eased the restrictions to three days a week so be sure to look at their website for the latest (details below). That should help. Thanks to Dana McDermott, Lisa Morrisroe, and the Malcolm family for coordinating a fantastic annual family night and wine tasting at the pool in June. If you haven't attended this event please come next year as it's open to all residents and proceeds help the neighborhood swim team. Thank you also to the Mercers and Wilsons for hosting a fabulous Fourth of July party! Our neighborhood welcome committee has been out and about greeting the many new arrivals to our community. If you've moved in recently and haven't received a welcome basket, please email me directly so we can get you one. They are full of helpful information and a few treats as well. Have a fun July! |

New Swimming Pool Guest Policy
| |
The board approved a new guest policy at the pool and we hope you're enjoying the safer and less crowded environment this year. Please thank and continue too support our lifeguards for their efforts. The rules for guests at the Heritage Greens pool are the following: - Two guests per adult and one guest per child 18 and under. All residents have to be with guests at the pool for guest admission and while using the pool.
- Families that have two adults but no children are allowed five guests.
- Residents between the ages of 12 and 18 have to provide a photo ID. a school ID or driver license to be admitted and bring a guest with them.
- For unique situations, please email kyle.Linhardt@me.com in advance to request prior approval.
Please also remember that no glass or bottles are allowed in the pool area for families or at social events. These are a safety hazard to all and require the pool to be completely drained if glass falls in. Please reserve the community room if you require use of the pool for any parties. Thanks for your help and enjoy the pool! Kyle |
Gator Swim Team - Racing Towards the Finish Line!
| |
We've had a blast this season; the kids times are improving and records are falling! Our Pre Team kids have made significant progress and several of our Pre Team swimmers have successfully competed in their first meet.
We will have one more meet at our pool for the Rocky Mountain Swim League Preliminaries. It will be on Thursday, July 11. We will be hosting the 11-12 age group competition. Please plan on the pool being closed until mid afternoon that day, but if you come by wear green and cheer for our kids! The qualifying swimmers from the prelim meets will go on to Stonegate on Saturday, July 13 for the championship finals. That evening will be our team award party back at our pool.
We place a very high priority on making this summer swim team fun for the kids and families. That's why our hats are off to Shelley Reed, Marla Terwilliger, Dana McDermott, Lisa Morrisroe and Kristen Dimig for planning our fantastic social activities for the kids and families this summer.
In addition to great swimming and fun activities we want the kids to encourage and support each other. The buddy program was created for that purpose. Jane Estes Schmeling is the queen organizer of our buddy program. She's made terrific changes to the program this year, streamlining it and trying to take the emphasis away from the gifts and more towards building relationships between the younger and older swimmers. We parents appreciated the streamlining, but it was a lot more work for Jane, thank you!
Did you know there are two volunteer positions on the team that require you to attend clinics and pass a test to do their jobs? Our Starter/Referee's and our Stroke Judges are great and very well respected in the league. Thanks to our Starter/Ref's - Ron Mayo, Grant Seavall and Troy Eiber. Our Stroke Judge Lead is Jan McElhiney, she did an especially great job recruiting this year. Our stroke judges are Jan McElhiney, Aaron Dimig, Heather Best, Troy Eiber, Jenn Arthur, Brian Zook, Stephanie Johnson, Jill Griffin, Jeff Smith and JR Skirka.
Julie Hanna and Stafie Parker picked up the ball this year to juggle our volunteer shifts. They have a great act going and we hope they'll be back next year.
Abby Sweeney was an inspiration to us all rolling along on her scooter keeping concessions on track (special thanks to her husband Chris too).
Shelley and Bob Thompson did double duty this year running Gator Gear and then switching to be our Timer Committee Heads.
Amy Walker Kurtz has provided invaluable help with entries, scoring and our "go to" person for just about any question we have about the team.
Meredith McKinnon has graciously spent another swim season, camera in hand, to shoot loads of fantastic action shots of our swimmers. Please check out our "Gallery" on the team web site:

A huge thank you also goes out to all of our parents, coaches, sponsors and volunteers! Swim team is truly a community activity and it has been so exciting to see everyone working together to make Heritage Greens a very special place.

Independence Day - HG Style!
| |
The Fourth of July celebration was a huge success! Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make it a special day by helping to set up, tear down, and work at the ticket and drink tables. Your help was very much appreciated!!
A very special thank you to Kristen Dimig, Hilary Santini and their team of synchronized swimmers. It was a great new addition to the festivities.
Finally, much appreciation to our wonderful Gator coaches, Silas Getz and Chris McCoy, for being the master of ceremonies! Thanks to all of the wonderful HG residents who spent the day celebrating with HG!

Recycle, Reduce, Reuse
| | |
What does the Sustainability Committee do? We are a group of people that believes that a community this size, that has been blessed in many ways, can find ways to adhere to the 4Rs: REduce, REuse, REcycle and REpurpose. We hope to provide opportunities and information that you will find useful and REsourceful. If you would like to be involved, please contact Teri Hendrix at hendrixtz@aol.com. REcycle: At the pool and the tennis courts, please uses the yellow-lidded waste containers for all plastic bottles, tennis ball cans, glass containers, plastics, papers and magazines. REcycle: The Neighborhood Garage Sale will be August 23-24 this year. Start setting aside those unwanted items. More information to follow. FREE DAY: If you don't have enough or don't want to do the garage sale, on the Thursday, prior to the garage sale, we will have the FREE DAY. Place items out on your drive way a "Free" sign. Anyone may come by and take your item(s) away. If they don't disappear on Thursday, during the garage sale on Friday/ Saturday, they surely will. DONATION Pick up Day: This year we have the clinks worked out so that if you would like your left-over items to be picked up, your address and name will be given to Teri Hendrix. This year you will contact her directly so that we can all get the items out of our homes and into the hands of those who can use them! REduce: Are you bagging your yard waste in recyclable bags or putting in directly into your waste bins? Both help the decomposition at the landfill. REcycle: At the beginning of each month, the towels that are in the pool's lost and found are cleaned and taken to the Denver Rescue Mission. REduce: This year we will not be doing the electronic recycling. You can take your TVs to Best Buy. At this time they still take them without a fee. Next month we will give you a list of places to recycle paint, batteries, contaminant lightbulbs and anything else we can think of!

A few reminders:
1. The court trash cans are often overflowing. PLEASE take a moment to empty the small trashcans into the large trash and recycle bins.

3. Be sure to delete your reservation if you can not use it so that it is available to others. On the reservations page on the website, click MY RESERVATIONS at the top of the page.
4. Check out the tennis court rules and the reservation policy here.

Barking Dogs
| |
We love the dogs in our neighborhood but please make sure they are respectful to your neighbors. If your dog likes to bark, they cannot be left outside for extended periods of time or early/later hours of the day. It's also hot for them during summer months. We'd like to avoid having to assess violations when simply letting them back in the house would resolve the issue. Thanks for your help.

Website Feature of the Month: Resident Directory
| |
Do you know there is a directory of every resident at your fingertips? Using the Heritage Greens website allows you to find contact information for any resident at any time. You can search by first name, last name, or address. To search by address try putting in just the number for best results. If your listing isn't complete you can click Update Profile at the bottom of the left navigation to make changes. Multiple times per week the online directory is updated with new residents and updated information. Remember that you can only have one log in email and password per household. If you would like to switch the log in information to someone else in your household, contact the webmaster at HGNewsWeb@gmail.com. |
Family Night a Success!
| |
The 4th annual Family Night on June 22 was a success. Over 120 kids and 60 couples attended. We raised $2,000 for the HG Gators Swim Team. Thank you to everyone for attending!

Watering Restrictions Lifted
| |
From Denver Water: Denver Water's supply situation has greatly improved since Stage 2 drought restrictions were put in place April 1, thanks to an unexpectedly wet spring and citizens' reduced water use. As a result, the Denver Board of Water Commissioners adopted a resolution declaring a Stage 1 drought - which removes the two-day-per-week assigned watering schedule - effective immediately. Customers may water no more than three days per week and must follow Denver Water's annual watering rules. Click here for more information.
