After Black Friday - It is #GivingTuesday |
After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, non-profits will kick off the holiday season with a charitable giving campaign that began in 2012 called Giving Tuesday. Please consider donating to DACCO and your other favorite charities on Tuesday, December 2nd to start a new holiday tradition. Tax deductible gifts can be made in any amount of $5 or greater to support DACCO's mission of working for a drug-free community by visiting our website or by calling Linda Parrish at 813-384-4201.
A portion of the donations that DACCO receives on this day will go to spread holiday cheer to our over 230 residential clients.
There is another way to give over the holiday season when you shop online! Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to DACCO whenever you shop via AmazonSmile. Happy shopping! |

United Way Day of Caring at DACCO |
As an United Way agency, each year DACCO participates in Day of Caring. Day of Caring is a day for employees at businesses who donate to United Way through payroll deduction to see where their donations go and assist an agency for a day.
This year, Ferman Motor Car Company picked DACCO's project, a baby shower for our residential clients who are pregnant. Ferman employees held a drive at their local automotive and motorcycle locations for infant gifts for our clients. The Ferman employees then wrapped the gifts and threw a shower for our clients which included games, prizes and cake on October 2, 2014. One of our clients said that this was her fourth child and she had never had a baby shower. The gifts were much appreciated by the 17 women.
This was the 2nd year Ferman picked DACCO for a Day of Caring project; in 2009, Ferman employees installed a butterfly garden on DACCO's Main Campus. |

Women's Residential Clients Knitting - Oct. 2014
Some of the women in our residential program this fall found a new hobby due to a talented client and donations of yarn. Hobbies are more than just a way to fill time. They provide pleasure and improve mental and physical well-being. These activities can give life in recovery a real purpose, and this will reduce the risk of relapse. |
