Don't sweat the small stuff

Volume XV, Issue 43

October 26, 2015

I have an amazing job. I get to encourage people. All kinds of people from all around the world. And I love helping others share their own wonderful stories. Recently I heard a different kind of story---the husband of one of our own, Suzanne Taylor, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

The prognosis was not good, radiation not an option. The journey has become difficult. Each day brings new trials and frustrations as they pray for a miracle.

Suzanne recently posted something about Larry that was incredible. With their permission, I would like to share an edited version with you.

God bless you family and friends,

Larry is not in any pain. He's always in good spirits unless someone does something to him. Even then, he forgives them and goes back to being happy. He's loving food more now than he has in years, thanks to the steroid he's on.

Our children, their spouses, and our grandchildren have been a great support for Larry. He loves visits from them.

To Larry everything is beautiful. The family and friends he sees are beautiful. His dog is beautiful. His foods and snacks and drinks are all beautiful. He prays in thanksgiving to God many times throughout the day for everything.

It's amazing to see Larry call out with joy to his Father in Heaven over a traffic light being green, how good his iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts tastes, or how sweet a hug feels.

Larry's advice to us all is an old saying. He said, "Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff." I agree. Life is too short for anger, grudges, worry, or depression. Enjoy what you have while you have it.

We love you all.

Suzanne

In the Family of God we are all different. But at the same time, we are also the same. We share common life experiences---success and failure, joy and sadness, courage and fear. We know elation as well as desperation. And we understand the struggle between hope and hopelessness when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

How we walk that path says a lot about who we are and what we believe. Terribly difficult times will come. But it is our choice whether to drown in the darkness of tomorrow or rejoice in the light of today.

My prayer for you is this: Have life to the full. Be openly thankful for the blessings God has given you. Never again take a day for granted. Bask in the warmth of God's love. And cling to His promise that we will be with Him forever...in a place where Joy and Hope live.

Please join with me in praying for Larry and Suzanne as they walk with God in their journey.
Take care & be God's,

Chuck
