Why Not...by Jody Romig

How many times in just recent years have you thought, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" More specifically-"Why did this happen to me?"

I'd probably guess...more than a few. And until recently, I'd be right there with you. But that question just begs the answer-Why NOT me?

Is there something special that separates us from everyone else so that we should never experience any trouble in life?

In so many ways 2010 wasn't a very good year for me, to say the least. My Mom's death. Finances WAY over my head. "The one" special relationship gone bad. Finding myself without a place to call my own. Not a pretty snapshot, huh? Just call me Job!

I remember crying out in the depths of sorrow, "Here I am again. Alone!"  And I mean really alone!

Then at that very moment-without trying to sound overly dramatic-I felt the hand of God on my chest. Immediately there was an overwhelming sense of Him consoling me, saying to my spirit, "Jody, you are NEVER alone! I am with you and will never leave you."

That was 2010. Now fast forward to today. Looking back on those darkest days, I have not one doubt about God's faithfulness. Jeremiah 29:11 is absolutely true. For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and to not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

We all know that hindsight is 20/20. Now I can look back and see God working even in those dark days. His plans were to make me the woman I am today-a woman who has finally learned one of His greatest lessons: When we LOSE everything "of this world" and realize that all we have is God, it is THEN that we will understand that God is all we need.

He has provided everything I have needed. I'm finally debt free and have a bright future ahead of me. I don't know what the future will bring, but I am free to make plans and have God guide my steps. Everything belongs to the Lord! He gives and He takes. We are simply His stewards.

Hang on loosely to the things of this world. Enjoy whatever He gives each day. Live in the peace that only He can give. And understand this...

My heart wants YOU to know that WHATEVER you are going through in your life, you are NOT alone. You are loved and you will get through this. God is with you. He has a good plan for you. You can trust Him, for He is faithful and will do what He's promised.

Life is short...God is eternal...Be His!
