May God allow you to see Him!

When do you seek God? Where do you find Him?

Recently I read something pretty special about my young cousin Claire...and about seeking God.

"Mom, get back in the house. I'm gonna witness to them!" Claire said as I gave jumper cables to a pair of Jehovah's Witnesses who God had cleverly stranded at our house that morning. And with careful attention to timing, she did.

She was so confident, but not rude...so enthusiastic, but simultaneously calm and relaxed...as she explained John 3:16 to them. Afterward, I told her that although we aren't likely to convert them on our front porch, we sure can leave them with an impression.

I can understand how people can stumble over the fundamental part of our Christian faith that is the Trinity. Jesus fully human while also being fully God? Existing everywhere all the time in the form of the Holy Spirit? I can see how this can seem complicated.

I watched my 14-year-old, so full of love and confidence and passion for God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit---and also realizing she's the same 14-year-old who's probably gonna lose her temper with at least one of her sisters that day...the same 14-year-old who will have to be told AGAIN that leggings are NOT pants...the same 14-year-old who will most likely be in trouble for going over her data plan AGAIN this month.

But watching her just reveals more and more of God to me. Just like her Heavenly Father, she is so complex and so amazing. When He said she was wonderfully and fearfully made, He sure knew what he was taking about!

Seeking God involves both action and attitude. As action, seeking is deliberately exploring, discovering, and knowing more about this Creator of the Universe, our Heavenly Father. As attitude, seeking becomes a way of life focused on the continual growth of a deepening, intimate relationship.

There are many ways to seek God. We can discover Him in His living Word. We can speak to Him through prayer. We can listen for His whisper. We can wait for Him to nudge our hearts. We can expect His counsel to our spirit. We can follow the way He has prepared for us to live. And we can observe how He moves through and in the lives of those around us---from adults to children.

The question is not What can we do?, but...What will we do?

Cherish your times with God. Seek Him. Observe Him. Find Him. Get to know who He really is.

The Lord is with you when you are with Him (2 Chronicles 15:2)...and it's amazing!
Take care & be God's,

Chuck
