Playing"Name That Grain"

On Thursday, March 21st, direct service staff from UNCOM member agencies came together at Neighborhood House of Milwaukee to learn new skills in the areas of nutrition and physical activity.

MCOPP partners from Milwaukee organizations provided their expertise to make the training possible. Brett Fuller of Milwaukee Public Schools engaged participants in the first session - "Simple Physical Activity Games". Yvonne Greer, Registered Dietitian and owner of Y-Eat Right Nutritional Consulting, led the "Whole Grains 101" session.

All participants received a binder of materials to take back and use at their respective agencies. Contact Sarah O'Connor to receive a copy of the training materials ([email protected]). The next training will take place in October, 2013.

The Milwaukee Childhood Obesity Prevention Project (MCOPP) is an inclusive coalition with the goal of reducing childhood obesity in Milwaukee through environmental and policy changes that promote healthy eating and active living.

Our members include leaders and staff from the eight partner agencies of the United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee (UNCOM), youth-serving organizations, community residents, and experts in the fields of nutrition/dietetics, exercise science, education, public health, and medicine.

MCOPP is funded by Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities, a national program office of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
