Registration Officially Opens for 2016 Annual Conference

Comment Period for Proposed VA Rule on APRN Scope Closes July 25
The Veterans Health Administration proposed a rule change earlier this year that would expand the scope of practice for advanced practice registered nurses throughout the country. Physicians are encouraged to submit comments regarding the rule by July 25. Read more here.
Member Speaks on Behalf of IMGs at White House Function

Physicians Volunteer Opportunities Available on State Groups
A number of volunteer opportunities are available to physicians on a variety of state health care advisory groups. Applications are due to the Secretary of State by July 27. Read more here.
Help Get E-Cigarettes Restricted Across the State
Twenty-one of Minnesota's 87 counties and 30 cities have now passed policies that include e-cigarettes in their clean indoor air laws. This accounts for half of the state's population. Read more here.
Nominate a Physician for Leader Award by July 15
Know a physician who is going above and beyond the norm and deserves recognition? Then nominate him or her for 2016 Leaders in Health Care Awards. Minnesota Business magazine aims to honor individuals and companies that have supported and accelerated the regional health care industry through business growth in the medical field, corporate philanthropy and workplace innovations. A celebratory event will be held Oct. 27 in the Twin Cities. Nominations are due July 15.
Free Tobacco Cessation Webinar Set for Aug. 3
Physicians are invited to join the Physician Advocacy Network for a free, one-hour lunch webinar on Aug. 3 at noon. The webinar will provide an update on recent changes in tobacco cessation coverage and programs available in Minnesota to help patients quit.
Immunization Conference Scheduled for Sept 8-9
The Minnesota Department of Health's 2016 Got Your Shots? Immunization Conference will be held Sept. 8-9 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center. This year's theme is "Celebrating and Fostering Immunization Champions." Registration, agenda, exhibitor and lodging information can be found online.
Members Urged to Complete MMA Communication Survey
MMA members are urged to fill out the biannual communications survey we emailed on June 21. We plan to use the data gathered to better serve members in our communications efforts. Please complete the survey by 5 pm on July 21. The survey includes 28 questions on our various communication vehicles and 10 brief demographic questions, some of which will help us generate valuable advertising revenue through Minnesota Medicine. Everyone who fully completes the survey will be entered into a drawing for one of three $100 Visa gift cards. Look for a reminder email on July 19.
