MMA Docs Named to Governor's Task Force on Mental Health
Two MMA members were appointed to the Governor's Task Force on Mental Health on June 22. They include Paul Goering, MD, a psychiatrist with Allina in St. Paul, and Bruce Sutor, MD, a psychiatrist at the Mayo Clinic. Read more here.

The Minnesota Department of Health, Minnesota Rural Health Association and the Duluth-based National Rural Health Resource Center honored outstanding medical service to rural Minnesotans with the 2016 Minnesota Rural Health Awards. Read more here.
Physicians Sought for Measurement and Reporting Committee
MN Community Measurement has two open positions for physician clinic representatives on its Measurement and Reporting Committee (MARC) beginning in February 2017. The committee's purpose is to recommend measurement priorities and specifications to the board, and to recommend guiding principles and/or policies for MNCM's public reporting of measures. New Webinars Now Available on MMA Website
The MMA has added two new educational programs on its website for physicians to earn CME credit. One features national expert Harold Miller who discusses Physician-led Payment Reform and will help physicians identify new payment models and how to shift away from fee-for-service. The other, Extreme Cases of Pain Management, explores the potential benefit of appropriate opioid prescribing for a carefully selected and monitored subgroup of chronic intractable pain patients.

Physicians, Medical Students: Share your Favorite Healthy Recipe
Do you like to cook? Do you have a favorite recipe you share with patients? Minnesota Medicine is covering topics related to food and nutrition in its September/October issue.  We would like to feature recipes from physicians and medical students that are quick and easy to make, and are good for you. Please share your favorites (and tell us what makes them healthy). They can be for all or for specific populations (for example, persons with diabetes or hypertension). We will also include them in an online resource that you'll be able to share with patients. Send recipes to Kim Kiser by July 1.  Limit two per person. 
Have a Talent Outside of Medicine? Perform at the Annual Conference and Win Prizes
MMA members are talented and we're going to prove it at this year's Annual Conference. We are looking for members to perform in the MMA's Got Talent show on Friday, Sept. 23, from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Whether you sing, play piano, tell jokes, juggle or do imitations, if you do it well we want to hear from you.
