MMA to Take Part in Malpractice Case Before MN Supreme Court
The MMA has been granted permission by the Minnesota Supreme Court to participate as a "friend of the court" in a medical malpractice case the judicial body will review later this year. Read more here.

Physicians, Residents, Med Students Celebrate Medicine in Rochester
It was a beautiful night as more than 100 physicians, residents and medical students gathered in Rochester June 8 for another Physician Social organized by the MMA. Similar to the Twin Cities social (click here for photos of that event), the Rochester gathering was a thank you to members, and a welcome to new and prospective members. Plans are underway for a Duluth event later this year. 
Member Receives Pediatrics Honor
MMA Board of Trustee Marilyn Peitso, MD, recently received the 2016 Distinguished Service Award from the Minnesota chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The St. Cloud pediatrician is the treasurer of the MMA Foundation's Board of Directors. She had held a number of volunteer positions with the MMA including serving as a member of its Choosing Wisely Advisory Committee. In addition, last year, she served on the state's Health Care Financing Task Force. Congratulations to Dr. Peitso!
Physicians, Medical Students: Share your Favorite Healthy Recipe
Do you like to cook? Do you have a favorite recipe you share with patients? Minnesota Medicine is covering topics related to food and nutrition in its September/October issue.  We would like to feature recipes from physicians and medical students that are quick and easy to make, and are good for you. Please share your favorites (and tell us what makes them healthy). They can be for all or for specific populations (for example, persons with diabetes or hypertension). We will also include them in an online resource that you'll be able to share with patients. Send recipes to Kim Kiser by July 1.  Limit two per person. 
Have a Concern or Idea about Medical Practice? Submit it for Consideration at the Annual Conference

Two-Day Patient Safety Event Set for July
The Minnesota Alliance for Patient Safety and Minnesota Hospital Association are co-hosting "Exploring Partnerships: Using the Include Always Model to Successfully Engage Patients and Families" July 13 and 14 at the Crowne Plaza Minneapolis West in Plymouth.
