MNCM Report Reveals Disparities in Care
MN Community Measurement released its 2015 Health Equity of Care Report on Feb. 10. The second-annual report deepens  our understanding of health disparities in Minnesota. It includes two additional features: four patient experience measures segmented by race and Hispanic ethnicity; and comparable medical group reporting of the five quality measures included in last year's report. First Call for 2016 Annual Conference Presentations
What kind of sessions would you like to attend at the MMA's 2016 Annual Conference? Have a speaker suggestion? The MMA is seeking ideas for its Annual Conference, which will be held Sept. 23-24, in St. Louis Park. A conference work group is seeking proposals on topics including physician leadership; technological advances that will aide physicians; innovation in medicine and practice; and physician resiliency and wellness. Medical Cannabis Program Nears 1,000 Patients
Minnesota's medical cannabis program launched July 1. Now six months into the headline-making initiative, it is nearing its 1,000th patient. As of Feb. 5, 500 health care practitioners have been registered and authorized to certify patients; 968 patients have been approved in the registry to obtain medical cannabis; and 105 patient caregivers have undergone background checks and received approval, according to the Office of Medical Cannabis.
Registration Open for Day at the Capitol on March 23
Physicians, residents and medical students can now register for the MMA's annual Day at the Capitol on March 23. During the upcoming legislative session, which begins March 8, the MMA will continue its quest to fix medication prior authorization and to maintain the repeal of the provider tax. In addition, the MMA will advocate for stronger childhood immunization laws, recommending the removal of the conscientiously held belief exemption that allows parents to opt-out of immunizing their children.
