104 Practitioners Sign Up for Medical Cannabis Registry

One week into the state's new medical cannabis program and a little more than 100 physicians have signed up to participate. The Minnesota Department of Health released the statistics on June 8. During the first week, 27 patients were certified with one of the eight conditions and eight patients completed the process and now are approved to pick up medical cannabis July 1. Poisonings Associated with E-Cigs Continue to Rise

On June 10, the Minnesota Department of Health reported a 35 percent increase in e-cigarette and e-juice poisonings among children 5 years of age and younger between 2013 and 2014. This is the second year of significant increases in nicotine poisonings related to e-cigarette products. Reducing access to e-cigarettes is a top priority for the MMA. Read more here

Seen a Challenging Case Recently?

Minnesota Medicine is seeking reports of challenging cases-the kind that are difficult to diagnose or treat, infrequently seen or are devastating to patients. Case studies should be between 500 and 1,000 words in length and include references and images, if relevant. Those selected for publication will appear in the August issue. Deadline: June 15.
