Four MN Hospitals Designated to Take Ebola Patients
Four hospitals have been designated as official trauma centers for any Minnesota patients diagnosed with Ebola, the Minnesota Hospital Association announced Oct. 24. The facilities include: the University of Minnesota Medical Center, West Bank Campus, Minneapolis; the Mayo Clinic Hospital - Rochester, Saint Mary's Campus; Allina Health's Unity Hospital in Fridley; and Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota - St. Paul. Ebola Program Details Firmed Up for Nov. 18
Minnesota health care workers will gather Nov. 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Continuing Education and Convention Center in St. Paul to discuss issues related to the Ebola crisis. CME credit is available. Read more here.

Minnesota Gets Strong Rating in Quality Report

Minnesota received a "strong" rating recently from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) in its National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report. Minnesota had the highest meter score for all measures among all 50 states. Massachusetts took second. Minnesota was cited specifically for its high score on hospital admissions for immunization-preventable influenza per 100,000 population age 65 and older. Free Contract Negotiation Forum for Residents and Fellows

Residents and fellows are encouraged to attend a free Transition to Practice educational session on contract negotiations taking place Nov. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 5-125 Moos Tower on the University of Minnesota campus. The forum will feature attorneys who will discuss how to find a suitable employment attorney; typical contract terms; how contracts differ in various practice types; and negotiable items such as salary, hours and responsibilities. Save the Date: Day at the Capitol is March 11

The MMA'a annual Day at the Capitol event, at which physicians meet face to face with their state senator and representative to advocate for pro-medicine legislation, has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 11. Because of the extensive renovation underway at the Capitol, the 2015 event will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St Paul Downtown. Watch future editions of MMA News Now for more details.
