MMA Launches Medical Cannabis Page
Now that medical cannabis has been approved for use in Minnesota, MMA members have a lot of questions about what's next. The MMA has developed a new webpage with a series of Frequently Asked Questions. Members are also encouraged to send in questions regarding the new law and how it might affect how medicine is practiced in Minnesota.

Registration Now Open for Single Payer Forum
Physicians interested in taking part in the MMA's single payer health insurance forum on Aug. 19 can now register for the event. The forum, which will weigh the pros and cons of a single-payer system, will take place at the University of Minnesota's Continuing Education and Conference Center.

Member Receives Pediatric Society Award
MMA member Daniel Broughton, M.D., FAAP, received the 2014 Distinguished Service Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics on June 13 at the group's annual meeting in Bloomington. Read more here.

Deadline Approaches for Choosing Wisely Video Contest
The deadline for submitting a brief video (five minutes or shorter) promoting the Choosing Wisely campaign is approaching. Members have until July 1 to enter the video contest and win up to $400. Read more here.

Cardiologists Needed for Measurement Workgroups
Minnesota Community Measurement (MNCM) is looking for two cardiologists to participate in workgroups that will develop measures for optimal diabetes and optimal vascular care. The workgroups will meet in September and will be looking at the cholesterol component of the composite measures. For more information and to participate, visit the MNCM website.
