Governor's New Budget Similar to January Version

Gov. Mark Dayton unveiled a revised version of his budget on March 14 and for health care advocates it doesn't seem much different than the one he unveiled in January.

Committee Completes Work, Exchange Bill Goes to Floor

The conference committee tasked with hammering out the differences between the House and Senate versions of legislation that will create a Minnesota-based health insurance exchange completed its work and sent a bill to the Senate and House floors on March 14. 

Bill Would Regulate Re-Packaging Meds at Clinics

A bill from the Board of Pharmacy that would redefine drug compounding is making its way through the House and Senate. As introduced, the bill would severely restrict physicians from re-packaging often-used medications that are administered at their clinics.

Third Minnesota City Passes Healthy Eating Resolution

On March 4, the city of Savage became the third Minnesota city to pass a resolution promoting healthy eating and active living strategies for its residents. It joins Eden Prairie and Eagan in supporting the initiative, which has been championed by the Twin Cities Medical Society.

New Prescription Opioid Website Available

The MMA has launched a new website featuring a variety of links to helpful resources for physicians as well as details on the new prescription opioid task force. On the site, you will find links to archived prescription opioid webinars from the AMA. There is also a link to sign up for an upcoming webinar on March 28.
