ONE TEEN'S STORY"
"HAVING SOMEONE CARE IS PRECIOUS"

As a child, holidays are magical. However, I never truly understood the struggle of holidays until I became a teen mom.  

Work, school, and taking care of my child made it impossible to enjoy Christmas. I had no money and was utterly tired.

 

This very topic became our discussion one evening at  TPEP (Teen Parenting Empowerment Program). I cried as I listened to the other teen moms say that they were going through the same struggle as me.  

 

I was touched even further when Ms. Kahlil, our TPEP Coordinator, said that she has dealt with the same troubles. Then, Ms. Kahlil told us we wouldn't have to worry this year. Our families were going to be sponsored for Christmas.

 

My heart filled with joy. Little did I know how much my sponsors would come to mean to me ... (read the rest of the story ...

Iota Phil Lambda Throws Baby Shower for HBP Moms

Iota Phi Lambda at Perennial House

Iota Phi Lambda (Gamma Chapter, Washington, DC-area) generously provided a baby shower for Healthy Babies Project's teen moms on March 1. Iota Phi Lambda sorority, established by African-American women, is dedicated to professional excellence. The group works empowers professional and entrepreneur women from the student to the first-time business owner within our local community.

 

Multiple Partners Combine Forces to Sponsor HBP Fundraiser

World Bank Youth to Youth (Y2Y), International Monetary Fund Young Professionals (IMFYP), together with members of

JPAOC, IDBYC and IFCPDN joined forces to benefit Healthy Babies Project on Thursday, March 13 at the Dirty Martini. Thank you so much for celebrating with us to help at-risk DC teen moms.
