2nd Annual Making It Better Guild Luncheon

Thank you SO much to all who joined us at our Guild's 2nd annual fundraising luncheon,
For the Love of Literacy, at the Junior League of Houston on February 12th! The luncheon honored Maria and Neil Bush, co-chairs of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, and drew in a record attendance of 275 guests and $66,000 in donations.

Shoaleh Nosrati,Guild Member, with Neil Bush,
Jacque Daughtry, Executive Director, and
Matthew Frazier, Board Member

The keynote speaker was award-winning author, Stacey Bess, whose outstanding service has been recognized with a number of awards on the local, state, and national levels. She captivated guests with inspiring stories and powerful insights from her personal journey teaching homeless children. There were very few dry eyes in the room as Stacey spoke about successfully teaching and modeling love, self worth, personal power, and courage to children who had previously been labeled "unteachable."

Several students from our Steps 2 Success after school program
were able to attend the luncheon. They were excited to visit with guests
and perform on stage for the second year in a row.
