MASK "i.m. Power" Peer-to-Peer Mentors Present MASK's E3 "Actions and Accountability" Program at Lakeview Elementary School
SCOTTSDALE, AZ - MASK (Mothers Awareness on School-age Kids) recently launched a new community education partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) to pilot an "i.m. POWER" peer-to-peer mentor program in elementary schools in Arizona. Today, two ASU "i.m. POWER" mentors presented MASK's E3 "Actions & Accountability" Program to kindergarten through third graders at Lakeview Elementary school. The Actions & Accountability program examines bullying and helps children manage solutions. Students learned how their actions and reactions can affect others, and the mentors taught the children that they have the power to affect others in a positive manner. MASK mentors will return to Lakeview elementary school next month to conduct classroom-based activities which reinforce the Actions & Accountability message. The "i.m. Power" Mentor program will continue throughout the school year at Lakeview Elementary, with two more E3 Programs and corresponding follow-up reinforcement activities.
"A big thank you to Lakeview Elementary school for investing in the overall well-being of its students and for taking the time to build their social emotional skill-set," said MASK Founder and Publisher Kimberly Cabral. "MASK's ASU 'i.m. Power' Mentors were honored to work with your students today and we look forward to engaging, educating and empowering your students all year long."
MASK's E3 school-based program builds social and emotional skills in children, while helping the school create a positive climate and atmosphere in a manner that helps teachers and school administrators meet educational standards. A school-wide approach to positive social-emotional skill building creates an education environment that prepares children to be "ready to learn."
