Be inspired by our featured speaker and sponsor, Dr. Missy Gryder, Ed.D. Dr Gryder serves as the Program Development and Training Manager at MASK. She brings extensive experience at both the elementary school and university levels to her new role at MASK. Most recently, Dr. Gryder has focused her professional energies on preventing child abuse as the developer of The Body Safety Box, a research-based education kit offering  children along with their parents, schools and community groups, a series of active, engaging, and age-appropriate learning opportunities to help prevent childhood physical and sexual abuse.

Meet MASK's "i.m. Power"
Peer-to-Peer Mentors

Arizona State University Students/MASK "i.m. Power" Mentors

MASK is excited to launch a new community education partnership with Arizona State University to pilot its "i.m. Power" peer-to-peer mentor program in local elementary schools. Eleven dedicated ASU students have committed to making a difference in the lives of children and were recently trained to present MASK's E3 Actions & Accountability program to students this fall.

The Actions & Accountability program examines bullying and helps children manage solutions. The "i.m. Power" mentors will teach students how their actions and reactions can affect others, and the mentors will encourage the children to remember that they have the power to affect others in a positive manner.  MASK mentors will return to the local schools each month to conduct classroom-based activities which reinforce the Actions & Accountability message. The "i.m. Power" Mentor program will continue throughout the school year  with two more E3 Programs and corresponding follow-up reinforcement activities.

MASK's school-based program aims to build social and emotional skills in children, while helping the school create a positive climate and atmosphere in a manner that also helps teachers and
school administrators meet educational standards. A school-wide approach on positive social-emotional skills creates an education environment that prepares children to be "ready to learn".
