Engage: Everyone's a Paparazzi
Digital Safety

As you stand in front of a mirror, an exact copy reflects back in your direction. But what happens when you place a second mirror next to the first one? Now there's two of you projected within meters of your existence. Place a third, fourth and fifth mirror beside the other two, and you are multiplied yet again. You then shatter every single one of these mirrors with the full understanding that these multiple reflections can now be replicated through numerous social media sites that entrench the Internet today.

Many students today are living their lives as if under a microscope. Every action and every sentence could end up on a website on the Internet, forever inhabiting the space the World Wide Web has made.

So what does this then mean for the average student in America? They no longer need to aspire to become like their favorite celebrity. More or less, they are a celebrity.

Engage.
Tips.

SAFETY: With online purchasing so common, identity theft has become a growing problem. Practice safe online purchasing habits, including not saving your credit card information online and using services such as PayPal to ensure safe transactions. Teach  your children these strategies and stress the importance of not giving out personal information online or on the phone.

BULLY: When it comes to bullying, role-playing can illustrate the hurt and pain  caused by it, while helping kids avoid becoming a victim. Role play bullying with your children and engage them by asking: What do you think the person in each role is thinking and feeling? What roles do students at your school play? What role should you play? This will teach them how to identify bullying and how to respond to it.
Empower.
