MASK Conducts Communication Presentation to 8th Grade Girls at North Phoenix Prep
SCOTTSDALE, AZ - On October 31st, MASK (Mothers Awareness on School-age Kids) Co-Founder and Director of Education Pam Baumann conducted a presentation to 50 eighth grade girls at North Phoenix Prep.
"At this age, communication between parents and children can be challenging," said Baumann. "Our communication presentation is designed to help bridge the gap that exists between parents and their children." The MASK Communication presentation to children teaches them to feel comfortable reaching out to their parents about important, but often difficult issues.
"Pam does an amazing job encouraging students to open communication with their parents, regardless of the state of their current relationship," said North Phoenix Prep Director of Programs Liz Williams. "She simultaneously validates their feelings and appeals to their reason, producing the desire to meet that challenge!"
"I want these students to be unafraid to calmly discuss the issues in their world with their parents, and to be able to bring these issues up in a way that will not cause the parents to overreact," Baumann said. "I explain to the students that it is natural for parents to overreact sometimes, but that the more they talk to their parents, while staying calm, the easier and more productive their communication with their parents will become."
