Hoosier State Withdrawing from PARCC
On July 29, Governor Mike Pence sent a letter to PARCC's Governing Board informing them that Indiana would be withdrawing from the consortium effective August 12, 2013 citing fiscal responsibility as a factor in the decision. This does not come as a surprise after the Governor signed HEA 1427 into law earlier this year, allowing a reconsideration of CCSS that were adopted by the State BOE in 2010. Indiana is the fourth state, after Alabama, Oklahoma and Georgia, moving away from the consortium, with Florida not far behind.
