With the Office Integration for Laserfiche 8.2, you can directly modify metadata when working with Office documents that have been stored within your Laserfiche repository. This allows you to quickly make updates to document metadata in one step.
For instance, you might be using Microsoft Excel to work with a budget spreadsheet that is stored in your repository's Accounting folder. While working on the spreadsheet, you might want to tag it with the "Important" tag, and update the Approval field to indicate that it will require approval. Now you can do so directly within Excel, without having to save and close the document and then update the metadata in the Laserfiche Client.
To do so, select the Laserfiche tab on the ribbon, or open the File menu, and click the metadata button. This will open the metadata dialog, allowing you to modify the document's metadata. When you click OK, your changes to the document's metadata will immediately be saved.
The ability to update metadata directly in Microsoft Office allows you to quickly work with all of an electronic document at once-both the electronic file and the metadata-without having to switch between the Office application and the Laserfiche Client.
Note: Fields, templates and tags can be added or modified on documents directly from Microsoft Office applications. Links and versions cannot be modified in this way.
