Synergy's Upcoming College Tours!
Last year, 18 Synergy seniors spent Fall Break on the East Coast College Trip!
Synergy Quantum Academy high school seniors will once again be spending Fall Break in October visiting colleges across the country! This year, there are two college tours planned. Sixteen students are going on the East Coast College Trip. They'll spend a week visiting a variety of colleges and universities, including Northwestern, MIT, University of Rochester, Syracuse, and Cornell. Crystal went on the trip last year and said, "It was an eye opening experience. I was unsure about exploring colleges outside of the West Coast, but I'm now confident in my choice to apply to Cornell University.

Another group of 22 Synergy seniors will go on a bus tour of colleges and universities in Central and Northern California, including UCSB, Fresno State, UC Berkeley, and Stanford University.

The Northern California College Tour is made possible with a grant from NCLR's Escalera college prep program. The East Coast College Trip is made possible this year with the generous donations of so many supporters! We especially want to thank Candy and Ken Deemer, Synergy's College Circle Champions, and Heidi and Richard Landers, who sponsored a donation match to raise the funds needed for this year's trip! THANK YOU to all of the individuals and organizations who are supporting greater college access for our students!

It's not too late to make a donation to Synergy's College Circle and help us send more students from South LA to the college or university of their dreams!
"Let's Trade Secrets" Workshop Brings Together Educators from Both District and Charter Schools

Synergy Charter Academy and Quincy Jones Elementary School hosted over 40 teachers, school leaders, and campus aides at their shared campus on September 27th to present their systems of Organized Play during recess. Attendees represented 8 LAUSD schools, 14 charter schools, and 1 parochial school. They heard from school leaders, observed recess in action, and engaged in activities lead by team members from the non-profit organization Playworks.

Join us for our next "Let's Trade Secrets" workshop on Thursday, October 27th, 12:00 - 3:30 p.m. This time, the focus is on math, and How Do We Prepare All Kids for Algebra I? We'll take a look at the role of conceptual understanding vs. procedural fluency. Click here to RSVP, or for more information, contact Rhonda Deomampo, Synergy's Director of Special Projects, at [email protected].

"Let's Trade Secrets" are free quarterly educator workshops focused on a different topic each quarter. Teachers and school leaders from charter, district, and independent schools are invited to share different perspectives, resources, and best practices around common educational issues.
