Meet Synergy's Circle Champions
Chris Chandler,
Experiential Circle Champion
Chris Chandler is the co-founder of WYLD, a non-profit organization that empowers underserved urban youth through transformative wilderness leadership programs. This past June, 10 Synergy high school students participated in a week-long backpacking experience in the Sierra Nevada mountains with WYLD. Chris is also a former Synergy board member and continues to support Synergy by serving as Synergy's inaugural Experiential Circle Champion.

"When my father passed away, the wilderness was my refuge. Getting away from the city helped me reflect and heal. I support Synergy's Experiential Circle because I want Synergy to be able to provide similar empowering experiences for its urban youth and their families."
Candy & Ken Deemer,
College Circle Champions
Candy and Ken Deemer are both founding partners of Social Venture Partners, Los Angeles (SVP) and they provide executive coaching through Interven Partners. Candy has over 20 years of experience in the advertising industry and Ken has over 20 years of venture capital experience.

"We are excited to support Synergy's College Circle because we have witnessed Synergy's growth over the years from starting as just an elementary school to now serving students in all grades K-12. We are so proud to see Synergy's hard work pay off as they have graduated seniors and seen them off to college. We want to help continue this momentum by supporting Synergy's students and alumni in their journey through college completion."
Heidi & Richard Landers,
Family Circle Champions
Heidi and Richard Landers got involved with Synergy when Richard volunteered as a Lead Partner for Synergy's participation as an Investee with Social Venture Partners, Los Angeles. Richard provided mentoring support and advice when Synergy expanded from one to three schools. Heidi has worked in public relations, is an advocate for quality public schools, and is writing two young adult novels.

"Many schools claim they are eliminating the achievement gap, but we know from first hand exposure that Synergy's schools are actually achieving their mission. We decided to become Synergy's Family Circle Champions because we know that our donation will have a direct positive impact on South LA families in their pursuit of the American Dream via a free quality education."
