It's Time To Run!
The Missoula 5K is FULL! The Missoula Half Marathon is FULL! The Missoula Marathon is nearly full - it is time to make that last minute sign-up. Good luck to all runners. You have trained hard and it is now time to rest up and have a great run!
Bus Pickup4:15am - 5:15am We are excited to announce we have made a big improvement for 2014 and moved the bus pickup to the Adams Center at the University of Montana! Due to safety concerns and the size of our event, we ask that every participant take the buses to the Full and Half Marathon starts. Our new locations allows us to load more buses at once and with a greater parking/drop off area. There is parking available at the the Adams Center the morning of the race, but most folks will park on the streets of downtown or use one of the great parking garages and walk to the Adams Center. Remember parking is free downtown Missoula on the weekends! Click here for a bus pickup map under "Bus Shuttle" and more race info.
Volunteers Needed Volunteer are still needed. Please check the Missoula Marathon volunteer page and sign up to help with marathon weekend. Raceday Drop in Childcare Available!MM and The Jungle at THE PEAK Health and Wellness Center Downtown have partnered to offer race day drop in childcare to race participants on Sunday, July 13th, from 4:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Children must be between the ages of 12 months and 12 years and the cost is $50 per child. Galloway Class Finishing Fourth Year
|
by Pam Gardiner, Galloway Class Program Leader
Jeff Galloway packed the house at the Wilma on his first trip to Missoula in January 2011. A few weeks later, nearly 70 people signed up for the Galloway training class to prepare for the Missoula Marathon or Half six months later. Jeff also ran the marathon, and celebrated afterward with class members at Mackenzie River Pizza. That cycle has repeated each year, and the fourth RWM Galloway class is about to graduate. More than 300 folks have participated, some for all four years that the program has been offered.

View From The Back: Start Them Early
|
by Gwen Florio, RWM Member
Dixon's school is tiny, with only 45 pupils in kindergarten through eighth grade, but its goals are big. In addition to the usual reading, science and math, teachers aim to get kids up and running-literally.
Every day, Dixon schoolchildren whose parents sign permission slips have the option of running "The Bench" on a two-mile route that takes them up a steep hill behind the small, white school, along a long ridgeline, and back down through town. The training culminates in an all-school run each spring, with real race bibs provided by The Runners Edge in Missoula. Read more here about the runners at Dixon school.

Courage To Start: Sue & Glenn
|
by Gwen Florio, RWM Member
Beginning a year ago, Run Wild members have offered the chance to nominate runners they find particularly inspirational when it comes to that sort of courage. Nominees are interviewed about why they started - and why they keep running. We think you'll find their answers as uplifting as we do.
This month's nominees are Sue and Glenn Burwick of Stevensville. Click here to read more about Sue & Glenn.
