Missoula Marathon: Registration Is Underway
|
by Anders Brooker, Missoula Marathon Race Director
Missoula Marathon registration is in high gear! We were at the Seattle Marathon Expo on Nov. 29. We've raised the registration cap of the Full and Half Marathon but we think after the event we had last year, both events will start filling up fast. Don't forget RWM members get a registration discount, so use the coupon code when you sign up! You can find your RWM coupon code when you log into your RWM account. Get signed up - July will here before you know it and it's great motivation to keep running during the winter months. 2014 Registration Cap: Full Marathon - 1,750; Half Marathon - 4,000; 5k - 1,000. Run Wild Missoula recently donated the race proceeds from the Pumpkin Run 5K and 400 Meter Dash totaling $1,292.16 to the Missoula Food Bank. The Pumpkin Run was in its 18th year in 2013 and has been under the direction of Ben Schmidt since the beginning. RWM Donates $16,000 to Friends of the M Trail
|
by Eva Dunn-Froebig, RWM Executive Director
Run Wild Missoula recently made a commitment to donate $16,000 to the Friends of the M Trail to go toward a renovation of the M Trail trailhead. The M is the most used trail in the state of Montana with an average of 1,000 runners and hikers using the trail each day. Runners use the trail as a gateway to miles of trails on Mt. Sentinel. Specifically, Run Wild Missoula uses the trail during its Trail Running Classes in the spring and the fall and during the Pengelly Double and Single Dip trail runs in June each year. Read more about the renovation of the M Trail and see drawings of the proposal here.

Whether we are running ahead, running around, running high, running the gauntlet or running along encouragement is there."

Diva Day: Notes from a Newbie - Diva Teams and the Run Wild Community
|
by Kristjana Eyjolfsson, Diva Day Volunteer
"Before I even moved to Missoula I joined Run Wild. See, I'd been a part of a really fun training group in San Jose, CA and I knew that if I found my running peeps I'd have instant community. Unfortunately, a pesky old ankle injury has kept me from doing any actual running up until about last week, but I jumped right into to the planning committee for the Diva Run in October (the first meeting was a week after I arrived in Missoula) and was amazed by the fantastic bunch of people involved with the race - the planners, volunteers and the participants!"
