 September/2015

As summer comes to an end, we look back with joy on a summer that was one for the record books! We are proud to share that we served more girls this summer than ever before. 214 girls attended the Crestwood Summer Program, 65 girls attended the Walker County Summer Program, and 46 girls attended the Eureka! math and science camp. We now look forward to all of our school-year programs, including the Crestwood After School Program and the Teen Leadership Program. We are also excited to kick-off a new volunteer program and we hope you will consider spending some volunteer time with us! We are absolutely thrilled about all that is planned this school year, and can't wait to share it all with you here and on social media! Keep up with the latest from Girls Inc. of Central Alabama by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Strong, Smart and Bold Girl of the Month

Ashlyn is our Girl of the Month! She is in the 7th grade at Philips Academy and her favorite subjects in school are math and band. Ashlyn has played the clarinet since the 4th grade! When she grows up, Ashlyn says she wants to be a model. She has attended Girls Inc. since the 1st grade. Ashlyn's says she likes Girls Inc. because "you can be yourself and you get to learn new things, like cooking, drawing, and the importance of physical activities."

Girls Inc. is looking for spectacular volunteers!
Want to make a difference in a girl's life? Want to get out and support your community? We are ALWAYS looking to add new volunteers to our programs. Whether you want to volunteer as an individual or a group we have a position for you. Even if you think you don't have much to give, you do in the eyes of a young girl. Simply making a commitment and helping a girl with her homework makes a big difference! Contact Bethany Reeves at breeves@girlsinccentral-al.org or 599-5540 for more information on volunteering with Girls Inc.
