Publix Super Markets Charities recently awarded to Girls Inc. a grant in the amount of $11,000! Kelli Robinson, Girls Inc. Board Chair, accepted the check on behalf of the agency.
Children's Trust Fund of Alabama

Nonprofit child and family welfare agencies in Jefferson, Shelby and St. Clair counties will share more than $450,000 in grants from the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect/ Children's Trust Fund to protect vulnerable children in these counties. Girls Inc. of Central Alabama is very proud to be one of these agencies.

Happy Fall! November is already promising to be a great month for Girls Inc. This month, our girls are learning about the importance of voting, the teen girls are visiting Auburn University-Montgomery, and we welcomed Dr. Connie Hill as our new President and CEO! Welcome, Dr. Connie Hill!

Girls Inc. is extremely proud to welcome Dr. Connie Hill to our staff as President & CEO! Connie joined Girls Inc. on Monday, November 3rd and has already hit the ground running. She previously served as Principal at Connie Hill Consulting and Executive Director at Pathways. We are so very excited about this new chapter in Girls Inc. history!

Crestwood Center Holiday Break Program Registration

The Crestwood Center will hold a Holiday Break program in December for girls ages 6-18. The program will operate from 6am - 7pm on December 22, 23, 29, 30, 31. Activities will include health education, economic literacy, creative writing, sports, and much more! The cost is $75. Register Now for Crestwood After School Program

Even though the After School Program began in August, Girls Inc. will accept new registrations all year long! Each girl receives a healthy snack upon arrival and participates in daily/weekly activities that include health education, economic literacy, creative writing, sports, and much more! Girls Inc. "Pink in the Park"

The Girls Inc. Crestwood Center held their 3rd annual Girls Inc. "Pink in the Park" on Friday, October 17th. The event was held in honor of all women who are battling or have battled breast cancer, including three mothers of current Girls Inc. members. Activities included a three mile walk around Crestwood Park to raise awareness, followed by wellness and educational activities for the girls. 

The 3rd Annual Bilingual Health & Wellness Fair

On Saturday, October 11th Girls Inc. co-hosted the 3rd Annual Bilingual Health and Wellness Fair in partnership with AIDS Alabama and Glen Iris Elementary School. Health and social service agencies were on site and provided a wealth of information to the community. There were fun activities for children, as well as some great food! Girls Inc. is proud to be a part of this annual event!
 

Girls Inc. Now Scheduling Outreach Classes in Schools

The Girls Inc. Outreach Department brings Girls Inc. programs to the community by traveling to schools, churches, and other locations to offer an array of developmental and culturally sensitive programs. Youth participate in vital, age-appropriate prevention education designed to reduce risky behaviors, encourage positive life choices, and increase their chances for success. These classes are provided free-of-charge. Program areas include:

  • Health and Wellness
  • Life Skills Development
  • Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy
  • Hispanic Initiative
