The Teen Leadership Program provides fun educational and social opportunities for girls in 9th-12th grades. Annual activities include a variety of workshops, community service opportunities and college visits. The annual membership fee is $100. Happy new school year! Can you believe that the summer break has already come to an end? We surely can't! The Walker County Summer Program ended on July 18th with an amazing ceremony. The Crestwood Summer Program ended on August 1st with their own spectacular closing production. Our building was nearly busting at the seams all summer, but we wouldn't have had it any other way! Girls Inc. To Host Back-to-School Uniform Drive

Each year Girls Inc. of Central Alabama brings Outreach

services to thousands of girls in over 50 area schools and staff members regularly encounter girls in uniforms that are worn or have been outgrown. Now until August 15th, Girls Inc. will collect school uniforms to share with guidance counselors at schools throughout the region. We have already received many calls for assistance, so we need your help to ensure girls start the school year off right! Supporters may cover the cost of a uniform by making a $25 donation online or by mail at P.O. Box 130729, Birmingham, 35213. You can also shop on your own and deliver new navy pants and white collared shirts of any female size to the Girls Inc. Administrative office at 5201 8th Ave S, Birmingham, 35212.

Register Now for Crestwood After School Program

Can you believe it's already time to register for the Crestwood Center After School Program? The program begins on August 14, 2014 and activities will include health education, economic literacy, creative writing, sports, and much more! Girls Inc. Eureka! Summer Camp Another Great Success

32 high school aged girls participating in this summer's Eureka! Teen Achievement Camp. The camp was graciously hosted and sponsored by UAB's Engineering Department. The girls gained firsthand experience learning about STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) concepts, including building their own remote control cars from start to finish! The girls ended their summer camp with a white water rafting trip on the Ocoee River in Tennessee! The girls will continue their Eureka! experience by participating in once monthly Eureka! Nights throughout the school year. Registration for Eureka! 2015 will begin in January, so be on the lookout for more info to come soon!
