APRIL 2014
Dear Colleague:

UK Benefits Open Enrollment  is coming soon! Starting April 28 and ending May 16, Open Enrollment is your opportunity to review and, if needed, update your UK benefits. If you participate in a flexible spending account (FSA), you need to re-enroll each year. Otherwise, enrollment is not generally required unless you wish to add/change plans or update your level of coverage.

In the new benefit plan year that begins July 1, UK health plan members will see minimal premium increases. For example, employee only rates  for UK-HMO, UK-RHP and UK-PPO will rise by $1 per month: Other plan options (spouse, children, family) will increase by $2 - $7 per month, depending on coverage level. See link to Open Enrollment site below for details on all 2014-15 health plan rates.

These will be the first premium increases affecting the vast majority of UK health plan members in six years Over the same time frame, most U.S. households have seen health plan premiums rise sharply. Though underlying health plan costs have also risen here at UK, the University has continued to commit new funding each year ($2.1 million in 2014-15) to limit the impact on UK families.

You may learn more about health plan rates and other benefit updates on our Open Enrollment website.  Later this month, you'll also receive mailings at home and work with more details.
