UK Urgent Care Clinic
The UK Health Plan Urgent Care Clinic, an on-site clinic for UK employees who participate in one of the UK health plans (UK-HMO, UK-PPO, UK-EPO and UK-RHP) is now open on the first floor of the University Health Service Building next to Employee Health. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Same-day appointments are available by calling 323-SICK (7425). The new clinic provides care for conditions including but not limited to: colds, coughing, sore throat, earache, congestion, sinus, flu, gastroenteritis, eye problems, rashes, urinary symptoms, abrasions, sprains and strains. Please seek emergency care for chest pain or other life- or limb-threatening conditions. Please note: The clinic is also open to dependents of UK health plan members who are over age 18.
Free Retirement Counseling Sessions with TIAA-CREF & Fidelity

Save the Date: Feb. 24th Summer Camps Fair Open to All Employees
The Office of Work-Life is excited to bring you the 1st Annual Summer Camps Fair on Monday, February 24 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the UK Student Center Grand Ballroom. This is the premier opportunity for UK employees to find a camp(s) that interests your child(ren) and fits your family's summer schedule. You will be able to meet with camp directors and counselors from programs focused on everything from art to sports to academics; many are offering registration discounts for UK employees.
Health & Wellness' Body Shop Fitness offers a Restore & Flow class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:10-12:50 pm in LAC 170. Voluntary Reduced Seasonal Hours Offered
UK is once again offering the voluntary Reduced Seasonal Hour Program in an effort to provide employees with flexibility during the winter and summer months and serve as a potential cost-savings strategy for the University. This program allows eligible employees to apply for and work a temporarily reduced seasonal schedule with department approval. HR Executive Director Mary Ferlan to Retire in May 2014
Mary Ferlan, Executive Director of Human Resources, has announced her plans to retire this spring, with her last day as May 1, 2014.
Hired in June 1990, she has contributed almost 24 years of service to the University of Kentucky. Ferlan began her career at UK as Health & Wellness' first program manager. After serving as Chandler Hospital's HR Generalist for one year and then transitioning within Human Resources to ER, she worked in Employee Relations before she took on the role of Operations Director in May 2011.
University of Kentucky Human Resources celebrates Ferlan's achievements and dedication to service as she makes this transition.
Winter-Related Delays and Closings: What You Need to Know
Registration Open for Annual Community-Wide 5K Run/Walk
The Heart, Sole & Glove Run/Walk is an annual family-friendly 5K.
Open to the entire Lexington-area community, the event is hosted every February by University of Kentucky Health & Wellness. Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate in the 5K on February 15, 2014.
New features for this year's route at Coldstream Park/Legacy Trail include:
- Completely on the paved trail
- Closed to traffic
- Aid station at half-way point
- Restrooms located at Coldstream Trailhead
A portion of proceeds from this event will benefit Kentucky Homeplace. Also, all participants receive on race day a FREE pair of gloves featuring the race logo!
Chronic Disease Self-Management Classes

Learn how to deal with symptoms of your or a loved one's chronic condition in this once-a-week Chronic Disease Self-Management class. Sessions run six weeks and begin 1/16 and 1/29. Preventing Suicide through Question, Persuade & Refer (QPR) Training

People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to get a person at risk the help they need.
