Are you a Hupernikao?
I have a new favorite word. The ancient Greeks had a very specific language. According to Jeffrey Hays, "Based on written texts that have been handed down to us today ancient Greek was a colorful language that could express a wide range of emotions and thoughts."
If I asked you, "Are you an over-comer? Are you a conqueror?"
You might agree or disagree. If I asked you are you "hupernikao?" You would probably look at me totally confused. In the Greek, humpernikao means to "overwhelmingly conquer;" more than a conqueror; to gain a surpassing victory."
I have learned, over time, that the people who make it in life are those who have a "hupernikao" attitude. Those are the kind of people that have a "never-the-less" attitude. An attitude that no matter what happens they have chosen to endure the hard times so they can enjoy the good times. This is the attitude of hupernikeo.
Another way to describe these kinds of people are "hyper-overcomers." Yet another translation of the Greek word calls it "we go beyond conquest." This is the attitude I have seen, time and time again, by those who have endured and overcome difficulties in their lives. These people had to have a hupernikao type of attitude in order for them to gain an outstanding victory in their lives.
Are you a "super-conqueror" when hard times come your way? Have you decided to realize all you were born to achieve regardless of your setbacks and struggles? Do you maintain an attitude of "no matter what I'm in it to win it?" This is the attitude of those with hupernikao!!
One ancient story tells of twelve soldiers that went to scout an enemy's city to report back to the leader if the city could be won in battle. Ten came back scared out of their minds. Two, the ones with hupernikao, told the leader that the city was ripe for the taking. The leader chose the opinion of the two versus the ten. They won!
So often, in your life and mine, the majority of people tell us why we can't achieve our goals and dreams. They share "horror stories" of what happened to them and their friends and their friend's friends. These stories, if we listen long enough, can stop us in our tracks before we even get started. Sometimes, the few, like me tell you to push your way to the top of your struggles and live a life that the majority cannot imagine.

Albert Einstein once said, "Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts." This is the attitude of someone who is "more than a conqueror." You are able to overcome...scratch that...you are able to be more than an overcomer. You have it in you. Don't quit...don't give up!
