As of July 1st, the Canada Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) is now in effect.

Non-profits have a special set of rules to ensure we can still provide people with information about our organization, learning opportunities and ways to support us like donating or joining an event.

The Anti-Spam Legislation refers to any commercial messaging that tries to sell you a product or service. Since fundraising is not seen as a commercial activity and the Alzheimer Society is not in the business of selling, there are exceptions to the rule for charities.

While rules for charities are a bit different, we still have measures in place:

  • We need to ensure your consent. If you are receiving this email, you have provided us with your email either electronically, verbally or written.
  • We always give you the option to opt out of our emails.
  • Once someone has opted out, we respect your request to not be contacted.
