Dear Imagine Families:

As we enter November, our focus turns toward technology and Veteran's Day.  Many plans are underway to ensure your child is exposed to technology and the needs of our Veteran's in a developmentally appropriate way.

Warrior Dogs - Care Package Project

In honor of our Veterans and deployed military this year, ISPR classes will be supporting the Warrior Dogs project through Cards for Canines.  Some classes may also choose to participate in Patriotic Paws.  Cards for Canines sends cards to deployed soldiers and their working dogs to show our support.  Patriotic Paws supports veterans who are in need of service dogs to help them reintegrate into daily routines.

If your family would like to personally support this effort on behalf of ISPR, click HERE, to put together a care package for veteran or deployed soldier.  Packages can be dropped off at the school and will be picked up/delivered to the Warrior Dogs Care Package Project.

This is a very exciting week on the ranch.  Your donations during the Giving Challenge have arrived and ISPR has purchased $20,000 in smart board technology to ensure that every K-8 classroom in our school will have access to these incredible tools.  We anticipate that the technology and installation will be completed in all classrooms prior to winter break.

In addition, we are adding CompuChild to our wrap around programming for four-year-olds.  CompuChild registration information is available in the VPK classrooms and our first classes will begin in November. Your child will be better prepared for Kindergarten by learning the correct terminology, use and fuctionality of the computer, its parts and programs.

ISPR Cares about Creativity
Friday, November 6th at 2:15pm in the MPR

Our amazing business partner, Barnes & Noble has arranged for author J. Scott Savage, to visit ISPR during his book tour in Sarasota this fall. ISPR was 1 of 4 school's selected county-wide for this unique experience! On November 6th, Mr. Scott and his 6-foot mechanical dragon will be touring the country promoting his new series The Mysteries of Cove: Fires of Invention!

The theme of his visit is The Power of Creativity. Mr. Savage talks about kids who make the world a better place by using their imaginations. He teaches students how to come up with an amazing story idea in less than five minutes using a hero, a goal, the obstacles and consequences of success and failure. This presentation has given even the most reluctant students the tools to sit down and create something they are excited about.

Learners of English Meeting
Monday, November 9th at 5:30pm in the MPR

We will be discussing CELLA testing, FSA Accommodations and meeting the needs os ESOL students in the classroom.  We strongly encourage the families of all ESOL students to attend  and welcome your input!

Thank you to the many parents who volunteered during this year's book fair!  A special thank you to Mrs. Beasley for chairing this year's event with Ms. Pam!

Goooooooooo Longhorns!

Warmest regards,

Cambridge FAQ's

Will my child be participating in Cambridge?  YES!  All students on the ranch will have the Cambridge approach in their classrooms.

Who will be in the Cambridge International School for the Gifted & Talented?  The Cambridge Gifted and Talented Program is for grades 6-8.  This program is an advanced course of study that is more rigorous than the general education Cambridge classrooms.

Do I have to apply to be in a Cambridge classroom?  No.  All children will automatically be exposed to the Cambridge approach as it is being incorporated into all K-8 classrooms.

Does my child have to apply to be in the Cambridge International School for the Gifted & Talented?  Only if s/he will be new to our school.  Current middle school honors students will grandfathered into the Cambridge Gifted and Talented program.

Are there two Cambridge Programmes?  Yes, one general education programme for K-8 and a Gifted & Talented programme for 6-8.  The Cambridge approach is applied to all classes.  The Gifted & Talented classes are more rigorous and taught at and above grade level.
