JAMES MORRIS SCHOOL                                            January 10, 2013

PTO MEETING - Monday, January 14
Changed to 3:45 p.m.

Dear Parents and Community Members,

You may recall from previous e-news letters that Mr. Niek and Mrs. Wright received a generous grant from the Fuel Up to Play 60 initiative. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a program founded by the NFL and the National Dairy Council that encourages students to make healthy life-style choices by being active for at least 60 minutes daily and choosing to eat healthy foods.

Students recently completed one of the initial Fuel Up to Play 60 activities by creating posters that illustrate how children can be more active and eat healthier. There were so many great posters, it was difficult to choose winners for the 15 prizes supplied by the grant. Our winners are pictured above, and their posters are on dislay in the gym. We want to thank all students for their efforts in encouraging everyone to lead a more healthy lifestyle.

Promoting nutrition education and physical activity are components of our BOE Policy on Student Wellness. You'll be hearing more from your children about Fuel Up to Play 60 activities in the future.

I hope you have an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the forecasted January thaw this weekend.

      Sincerely,

      Guy Weik
