March 1, 2015: "Commitment and Stewardship"
Rev. Chip Wright, with Jason Stearns, Worship Associate
Making a commitment to something implies a level of stewardship, of engagement. Often it is about seeing yourself as part of a larger truth. That can be challenging, but also rewarding.

Lassoing in the Gratitude and Commitment Campaign
| | March, within its spirit of renewal, is the month in which UUCM asks for your financial support to keep us vital to serve your and other's spiritual growth and outreach to build more meaning and joy in community. Because we have a full complement of staffing and program needs, with fewer year round fundraising initiatives, we are currently drawing down our reserves faster than we would like. Therefore we are asking everyone who has pledged in the past to graciously consider increasing their pledges this year by 10%. The Board and the Minister have already done so and we ask you to follow their leadership to reach our goal of an increased 10% participation across the congregation.
Our Gratitude and Commitment Campaign will have a fun, western theme with a "Round-up" of resources with skits, music, and testimonials. And at the conclusion of the month we will celebrate our commitment with an all ages yippee-ka-ye BBQ with a variety of fun activities. So dust off your cowboy/girl hats, your bandanas, boots and pie baking recipes for the BBQ on Saturday, April 11th.
This Sunday we will have the "First Chance Saloon" where you will have your first chance to your share your gratitude and commitment to the continued vitality of UUCM. See our own Wrangler Janette at her table where she will collect your pledge cards. And together we will be able to see again the clear open skies that the west has always been known for!

Below is a poem I wrote after the 2007 GA which a lot of people from UUCM attended. GA is amazing and if you can't go you can watch a lot from your computer.
GA - Wherever You Go It's amazing Wherever you go They are all UUs In the airport On the Max line On the streets In the restaurants In the Rose Garden On the trolleys In the hotel And of course In the Convention Center.
From babies to 90 year olds In wheelchairs, scooters and on foot All colors All genders.
Who could have imagined So many UUs in one place Every name tag an invitation for conversation - Where are you from, I used to live there, do you know so and so, what is your role in your church? People from the past - former members, former interns, former ministers, old friends.
Yes, there were wonderful workshops, lectures, services But it is the people I will remember I could have stayed home and watched it on my computer But it is the people, the UUs, that made it worthwhile Who knew Wherever you went They were all UUs. Lisa Cohen 6/30/07
